A solution, in particular for hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis that permits attaining a desired glucose concentration without affecting the concentrations of other components in the solution. The solution consists of at least three individual solutions that are combined and administered after heat sterilization. The first solution contains calcium ions, electrolyte salts and optionally glucose in a concentration of 0-1000 mM and is acidified to a pH of less than 4.0 with a physiologically tolerable acid. The second solution contains glucose in a concentration different from that of the first solution and the remaining components of the first solution in the same concentration. The third solution contains a buffer in the physiological range. Also provided is a method of preparing a solution according to the invention, where the desired mixing ratio of the separate solutions is automatically established by a dialysis machine or peritoneal dialysis cycler.

Solution, in particular for hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis and a method of preparing same

A method of preparing a solution is described, in particular a dialysis or infusion solution, and a storage system for preparing such a solution. An acid-reacting component comprising a solid acid and/or a solid salt which is water-soluble and is not hygroscopic, is dissolved in water in a first container and mixed with an alkaline-reacting bicarbonate solution in a second container. The quantity ratios are selected so that the acid and/or salt content does not exceed 6 mmol per liter of finished solution and the bicarbonate content does not exceed 40 mmol per liter of finished solution.

Method of preparing a solution, in particular a dialysis or infusion solution

A multi-chamber renal dialysis container having at least two compartments and containing concentrated glucose in a first compartment and a hydrochloric acid solution containing electrolytes in a second compartment. The compartments are separated from one another during storage and transportation by separable peel seals, and the solutions can only be mixed with one another by the opening of the peel seals. An outlet of the multi-chamber container is separated by a further peelable seal, whereby a substantially empty third chamber is formed.

A solution for peritoneal dialysis or for infusion comprises two single solutions which, after heat sterilization, are brought together and dispensed, with the first single solution containing calcium ions, additional electrolytic salts and glucose in an osmotically effective concentration and the second single solution containing bicarbonate and a weak acid with pKa<5. To provide a biocompatible solution, in particular for use as a peritoneal dialysis solution, the first single solution is acidified with a physiologically compatible acid to a pH of below 3.2. The second single solution contains bicarbonate only in a proportion which does not exceed 10 mmol/l.

Solution for peritoneal dialysis

The invention relates to a process for the production of an infusion or dialysis solution containing bicarbonate and having a physiologically tolerable pH. In order to retain a solution with a stable physiologically tolerable pH even after heat treatment for sterilization, according to the invention, at least 2 mmol/L of at least one carboxylic acid ester is introduced into the solution beforehand. The solution is subjected to heat treatment above 100.degree. C., so that the carboxylic acid ester decomposes almost completely into carboxylic acid and alcohol. The invention further relates to a use of the process according to the invention for the production of a solution for peritoneal dialysis and a medicinal infusion or dialysis solution.
