The present invention provides a generator comprising winding arrangements, each winding arrangement comprising at least an inner coil and an outer coil constituting a concentric structure of coils. The inner coil is constituted by an inner conductor and the outer coil is constituted by an outer conductor, the inner and outer conductors being connected in series. The inner conductor, which is wound around a tooth, has a smaller electrical resistance per unit length than the outer conductor.

Method of repairing a winding in a generator, the generator having a generator rotor and a generator stator, wherein the generator rotor and/or stator comprises a plurality of windings, the windings comprising a stack of turns of a conductor around a tooth, wherein the method comprises cutting the winding on a side of the tooth to separate the winding in two parts; removing the two parts of the winding from the tooth; sliding a substitute partial coil on the tooth, the substitute partial coil comprising a stack of incomplete conductor turns having a first end and a second end, said first and second end positioned on the same side of the tooth; and connecting the second ends of each incomplete turn with a first end of the next incomplete turn using a plurality of conductor portions. The disclosure further relates to a kit for making a substitute coil.

Method of repairing a winding in a generator

A winding for a rotating electric machine includes conductive bars having straight parts and end windings and terminal portions of the end windings that are connected together. A protective cap is disposed on at least a portion of each respective connected end winding terminal portion. An electrical insulating material is disposed between each end winding terminal portion and respective protective cap and a seal is inside each protective cap.

An insulating cap is provided for an end winding of an electrical machine working at a high voltage, the end winding including a plurality of insulated winding bars protruding from respective winding slots and electrically conductively connected to one another in pairs at their ends so as to form a plurality of electrical connections. The cap includes an opening allowing the insulating cap to be pushed over a region of one of the electrical connections such that the insulating cap insulates an outside of the electrical connection. An interior includes a layer configured to gradually dissipate a high electrical field in the region of the electrical connection to an outside of the insulating cap, the outside of the insulating cap being at earth potential.

An electrical machine, in particular a three-phase asynchronous hydrogenerator, includes a rotor and a stator, wherein one of the rotor and the stator include a core with a plurality of winding slots. The machine has a winding having a plurality of axially extending winding bars, wherein each of the plurality of winding slots receives two winding bars disposed one on top of the other, and wherein the plurality of winding bars emerge from the plurality of winding slots at an end side of the machine, and wherein each of a majority of the plurality of winding bars is electrically connected to another winding bar in an end winding so as to form a pair of winding bars according to a predetermined scheme.
