A system and method for determining the extent of beneficial ownership of a target business by populating a database structure wherein businesses and ownership relationships between the business are represented by nodes and links. Steps include querying the database to establish the related ownership links; analyzing results of the query to determine ownership loops; de-looping the ownership relationships; and calculating the percentage ownership of each of the beneficial owners of the target business based on de-looped ownership relationships. A computer readable non-transitory storage medium stores instructions of a computer program, which when executed by a computer system results in performance of steps of the method. A system architecture having features uniquely suited to the task is also disclosed.

Circuits for protecting devices, such as gallium nitride (GaN) devices, and operating methods thereof are described. Such circuits may include a temperature sensor configured to sense the temperature of at least a portion of a device, and a phase shifter configured to shift the phase of the signal output by the device, when the sensed temperature is outside a safe temperature range, e.g., above a predefined temperature threshold. The phase may be shifted discretely or continuously. These circuits safeguard devices from damaging operating conditions to prolong the operating life of the protected devices.

An automatically activated backflow prevention device for water closets or toilets is provided having a substantially cylindrical support member terminating in one end in a cam shaped end for mating with a hinged flapper valve having a parabolic shaped or upwardly curving upper surface and correspondingly shaped sealing member disposed therebetween for mating with the cam shaped end of the substantially cylindrical support member. An elastomeric hinge member is provided for connecting the closure member or flapper valve to the substantially cylindrical support member so that when closed the flapper valve or closure member conforms to the confronting cam shaped end of the cylindrical support member with the sealing member disposed therebetween. A backflow water pressure responsive assist member is optionally provided on the lower surface of the closure member to assist in the closure of the closure member in response to backflow water pressure from waste pipes.

A regression coefficient is produced based on the characteristics, wherein a non-linear specification is used for the average allocation of advertising cost characteristic. An impact indicator is assigned based on the how positive the regression coefficient is so that the effect of each characteristic on sales/profits and quantity sold can be determined.

A method of determining a price sensitivity index for one or more retail units is based on the relation between profits, sales or traffic and a fixed weight price index based on information from individual retail units. Statistical regression and the theory of the single-product firm is used to analyze the relation between changes in performance variables and changes in the price index, leading to a unit-specific index of sensitivity. This information allows stores to be sorted into those which can see price aggression, those which cannot, and those which are likely to respond to promotions.
