A power converter includes a watchdog circuit having an input adapted to be coupled to a pause signal of a switching power supply. The watchdog circuit is configured to provide a start signal at an output thereof based on the pause signal indicating that the power converter has stopped switching for a threshold duration that is less than an audible range. A pulse generator circuit has an input coupled to the output of the watchdog circuit and is configured to generate at least one pulse based on the start signal. A switch circuit has an input terminal adapted to be coupled to an input voltage and at least one other terminal adapted to be coupled to an inductor. The switch circuit is configured to provide negative current from an output of the power converter through the at least one other terminal based on the at least one pulse.

Out of audio switching for power supply

A power supply unit includes a boost converter having an input node and output node. The output node is coupled to a high-side of an H-bridge that is for supplying power to a capacitive load that is coupled to a first node and to a second node of the H-bridge. A first diode is coupled in forward direction between the first node of the H-bridge and the input node of the boost converter. A second diode is coupled in forward direction between the second node of the H-bridge and the input node of the boost converter.

Power supply unit and a method for operating the same

An integrated circuit including a precharge circuit for a DC/DC boost converter which includes a reference current circuit with a MOSFET transistor (MP) that has a gate connected with the gate of the DC/DC boost converter's power MOSFET transistor (MP) to form a current mirror. The precharge circuit works to approach the output voltage to the supply voltage prior to the converter startup. An included regulation circuit adjusts the gate potential at the power MOSFET transistor (MP) and at the MOSFET transistor (MP) in the reference circuit in response to a reduction of the drain-source voltage of the power MOSFET transistor (MP) due to precharging load capacitance, in a sense to keep the precharge current through the power MOSFET transistor (MP) constant.

Precharge circuit for DC/DC boost converter startup

The invention relates to a DC/DC converter including an input to which an input voltage Vin is applied, a inductance L whose one terminal is connected to the input, a first controllable switch Nvia which the other terminal of the inductance is connectable to a reference potential Vss, a second controllable switch Pvia which the other terminal of the inductance is connectable to the output of the converter, and a regulator circuitconfigured so that it is able to control the two switches in regulating the output voltage of the DC/DC converter to a predetermined wanted value. The second controllable switch is a PMOS-FET. The regulator circuit is configured so that when the input voltage is higher than the desired value of the output voltage, the gate of the PMOS-FET is permanently connected to a voltage which is larger than the difference between the input voltage and the threshold voltage of the PMOS-FET, it connecting the back gate of the PMOS-FET permanently to a voltage which is larger than the expression input voltage plus threshold voltage of the PMOS-FET minus the diode voltage of a pn junction of the PMOS-FET and timing the first controllable switch with a specific duty cycle so that the output voltage attains the wanted value. The converter in accordance with the invention now permits achieving both an increase and decrease in the input voltage. It can be put to use preferably in conjunction with battery-powered devices for which a wanted voltage is specified.

DC/DC converter

The invention relates to a voltage-controlled oscillator circuit including an oscillator circuit connected to a voltage source furnishing a substantially constant supply voltage, and comprising at least one varactor, and a control voltage generator circuit whose output is connected to the anode of the varactor, the frequency of the oscillation signal of the oscillator circuit being variable by changing the control voltage. A voltage converter circuit and an ON/OFF switch therefor is located between the voltage source and the oscillator circuit, the conversion factor of the voltage converter circuit being selected so that a wide tuning range of the varactor and thus a wide frequency range of the oscillation signal is available. The invention can be put to use, for example, in a phase-locked loop. The oscillator circuit may be powered by a fixed predefined battery voltage.
