The present disclosure relates to a phosphor ceramic comprising a plurality of luminescence conversion materials, wherein a luminescence conversion material serves as a matrix material for the others.

Phosphor ceramic

A high-energy LED is provided, in particular based on the n-polar technique, comprising a Euactivated converter material based on tungsten/molybdenum oxide. Surprisingly, these materials do not show any saturation.

Light emitting device

A UVB phosphor of the composition (Laj_,,,Gd,,Y)PO4:Ce, is described, in which x=0 to 0.5, y=0 to 0.5 and z=0.01 to 0.3 and the sum of x, y and z is less than 1. From a phosphor of this kind, a phosphor layer can be produced that, in fluorescent lamps based on low-pressure mercury discharge lamps, produces a spectrum of 5 UV light that is particularly well suited to the cosmetic or medical treatment of the skin.

An illumination system includes a radiation source and a fluorescent material including at least one phosphor capable of absorbing a part of light emitted by the radiation source and emitting light of wavelength different from that of the absorbed light. The phosphor includes a yellow red-emitting cerium-activated carbido-nitridosilicate of general formula (RE)EASiNC:Cewhere 0&#x2266;a&#x3c;1, 0&#x3c;z&#x2266;0.2, EA is at least one earth alkaline metal selected from the group of calcium, strontium and barium, and RE is a least one rare earth metal chosen from the group of yttrium, gadolinium and lutetium. The phosphor may include a red to yellow-emitting cerium-activated carbido-nitridosilicate of general formula (RE)EASiNC:Cewhere 0&#x2266;a&#x3c;1, 0&#x3c;z&#x2266;0.2, EA is at least one earth alkaline metal selected from the group of calcium, strontium and barium, and RE is a least one rare earth metal chosen from the group of yttrium, gadolinium and lutetium.

Illumination system comprising a radiation source and a fluorescent material

A device for generating ultraviolet radiation by an excimer discharge is equipped with an at least partly UV-transparent discharge vessel whose discharge space is filled with a gas filling. The device includes electrodes for triggering and maintaining the excimer discharge in the discharge space. The device further has a coating that contains a phosphor including a host lattice and neodymium(III) as an activator.

Device for generating UV radiation

A tanning device is described by which the bluish light emitted by mercury vapor lamps is converted into yellow or white light. For this purpose, the mercury lamps, or the sheets of transparent plastics material covering these lamps, are doped or coated with one or more organic or inorganic fluorescent dyes that partially absorb the blue light emitted by the mercury lamps and convert it into light of wavelengths of 550 to 650 nm.

Tanning device

An ultraviolet reflecting layer and a fluorescent lamp is described, comprising an envelope having an inner surface, means within the lamp envelope for generating ultraviolet radiation, a light emitting layer of a luminescent material for generating visible light when impinged by ultraviolet radiation, and said ultraviolet reflecting layer, located between the light emitting layer and the inner surface of the lamp envelope, wherein the ultraviolet reflecting layer comprises a metal phosphate and/or a metal borate, with the metal being selected from Sc, Y, La, Gd, Lu and Al, or combinations thereof. The phosphates or borates used in the ultraviolet reflecting layer may optionally be doped by a Tb3+ and/or Dy3+ activator, to further improve the quantum yield of the conversion of UV radiation into visible light.

The invention also concerns a phosphor of general formula (SrCaBaMgZn)SiNO:Eu, wherein 0.002&#x2266;a&#x2266;0.2, 0.0&#x2266;b&#x2266;0.25, 0.0&#x2266;c&#x2266;0.25, 0.0&#x2266;d&#x2266;0.25, 0.0&#x2266;e&#x2266;0.25, 1.5&#x2266;x&#x2266;2.5, 1.5&#x2266;y&#x2266;2.5 and 1.5 &#x3c;z&#x3c;2.5.

Light-emitting device comprising an EU(II)-activated phosphor

A plasma picture screen provided with a luminescent layer which comprises a blue Eu-activated phosphor and a UV-C light emitting phosphor. The mixing of an UV-C light emitting phosphor with an Eu-activated phosphor or coating of an Eu-activated phosphor with a UV-C light emitting phosphor or coating of a base layer of an Eu-activated phosphor with a covering layer of a UV-C light emitting phosphor clearly reduces the photodegradation of the Eu-activated phosphors in the VUV range.
