An example system includes a motor/generator selectively coupled to a drive line of a vehicle, and configured to selectively modulate power transfer between an electrical load and the drive line; a battery pack; a DC/DC converter electrically interposed between the motor/generator and the electrical load, and between the battery pack and the electrical load; a covering tray positioned over a plurality of batteries of the battery pack, the covering tray comprising a connectivity layer that has a charging circuit allowing each of the plurality of batteries to be discharged individually; a plurality of battery microcontrollers, each of the plurality of battery microcontrollers associated with a corresponding one of a plurality of batteries of the battery pack; and a primary DC/DC controller configured to command operations of the DC/DC converter; wherein the plurality of battery microcontrollers are operationally coupled to the primary DC/DC controller.

System and method of a mobile electrical system

Systems include a prime mover that generates power for a mobile vehicle; a power converter that receives a portion of the generated power, and provides configured electrical power to an aftertreatment heater device configured to selectively heat an exhaust fluid of the prime mover; at least one aftertreatment component positioned downstream of the aftertreatment heater device, and configured to treat a constituent of the exhaust fluid; and a controller including an operating conditions circuit structured to interpret an operating parameter of one of the power converter, the aftertreatment heater device, the prime mover, or the exhaust fluid; a heater management circuit that determines a heating power value in response to the operating parameter; and a heater control circuit that provides a heating command in response to the heating power value; and wherein the power converter is responsive to the heating command to heat the exhaust fluid of the prime mover.

A system includes a PTO device that selectively couples to a driveline of a vehicle, a motor/generator electrically coupled to an electrical power storage system, and a shared load selectively powered by one of the driveline or the motor/generator. The PTO device further includes a coupling actuator that couples the shared load to the motor/generator at a first selected ratio in a first position, and couples the shared load to the driveline at a second selected ratio in a second position.

A transmission system selectively coupled to an engine crankshaft of an internal combustion engine arranged on a vehicle includes a transmission, a motor generator an HVAC compressor and a controller. The transmission has an input shaft, a mainshaft, an output shaft and a countershaft offset from the input shaft. The countershaft is drivably connected to the first input shaft and a mainshaft. The motor generator is selectively couple to the countershaft. The HVAC compressor is selectively driven by the motor generator. The controller operates the transmission system in various modes based on operating conditions.

An example system includes a motive application having a prime mover, a load, a driveline, and a motor/generator that couples to the driveline. The system includes a number of batteries, and a battery assembly that electrically couples the batteries to the motor/generator. The battery assembly includes a power interface positioned at a first end of the battery assembly, the power interface including a low voltage coupling and a high voltage coupling, and a service electrically interposed between the batteries and the power interface. The service disconnect in a first position couples at least one of the batteries to the first low voltage coupling and couples the batteries to the second high voltage coupling. The service disconnect in a second position de-couples the batteries from the low voltage coupling and the high voltage coupling.

A motor drive converter includes a cold plate having a first side and a second side, the first side being opposite to the second side. The motor drive converter may further include at least one motor phase power electronics disposed on the first side of the cold plate, and a capacitor array disposed on the second side of the cold plate. The cold plate may include slots therethrough for a conductor to pass through the cold plate. The conductor may be configured to electrically coupling the capacitor array and the at least one motor phase power electronics.

A transmission selectively coupled to an engine crankshaft of an internal combustion engine arranged on a vehicle includes an input shaft, a mainshaft, an output shaft, a first countershaft and a second countershaft. A first gear set includes a first mainshaft gear arranged on the mainshaft, a first countershaft gear arranged on the first countershaft and a first countershaft gear arranged on the second countershaft. A second gear set includes a second mainshaft gear arranged on the mainshaft, a first countershaft gear arranged on the second countershaft and a second countershaft gear arranged on the second countershaft. The gears of the first gear set all have a first helix angle. The gears of the second gear set all have a second helix angle. The first and second helix angles are selected to provide gear constant leading whereby thrust forces directed onto the first and second countershafts are balanced.

A system includes a planetary gear assembly having a ring gear, a plurality of planet gears coupled to a carrier, and a sun gear coupled to a main shaft. The system further includes a driven gear coupled to the carrier, a countershaft gear coupled to the driven gear, a motor/generator coupled to the main shaft, and an actuator structured to change a coupling of the ring gear based on a position of the actuator.

A transmission system selectively coupled to an engine crankshaft of an internal combustion engine arranged on a vehicle includes a waste heat recovery (WHR) system, a brake assembly and a phase-change thermal heat storage system. The WHR system selectively circulates a WHR fluid in the transmission system. The brake assembly selectively couples a transmission output shaft to a drive axle. The brake assembly is configured to operate in a braking mode that retards relative rotation between the transmission output shaft and the drive axle while generating heat. The heat storage system includes a housing defining at least one cavity and a fluid transfer manifold. A phase-change material is disposed in the cavity that is configured to change phase during the braking mode. The WHR system circulates the WHR fluid through the fluid transfer manifold collecting braking heat to be used at a later time in the form of driveline power.

A transmission system selectively coupled to an engine crankshaft of an internal combustion engine arranged on a vehicle includes a transmission, a motor generator, a master clutch and a controller. The transmission includes an input shaft, a mainshaft, an output shaft and a countershaft offset from the input shaft. The countershaft is drivably connected to the first input shaft and the mainshaft. The motor generator is selectively coupled to the countershaft. The master clutch includes a driving portion connected to the engine crankshaft and a driven portion coupled to the transmission input shaft and adapted to frictionally engage the driving portion between open and closed positions. The controller selectively operates the transmission system in a first operating mode that includes defueling the engine while the vehicle is moving based on vehicle operating conditions and routes rotational energy from the output shaft, through the countershaft and into the motor generator.
