A method for producing a blended video sequence that combines a still image and a video image sequence comprising: designating a first face in the still image, designating a second face in the video image sequence; detecting a series of video frames in the video image sequence containing the second face; identifying a video frame in the detected series of video frames suitable for transitioning from the first face into the second face; using a data processor to automatically produce a transition image sequence where the first face transitions into the second face, and a first background transitions into a second background; and producing the blended video sequence by concatenating the transition image sequence, and a plurality of video frames from the video image sequence starting from the identified video frame.

A method of selecting digital images includes using a processor to store the digital images in an electronic storage and retrieval system, forming a corresponding machine-readable code for each stored digital image, the machine-readable code encoding a reference to the storage location of the corresponding digital image in the electronic storage and retrieval system, providing a viewable image that includes a representative image of each digital image in the first collection of digital images in association with its associated machine-readable code, selecting one or more but not all of the digital images by receiving references or photographs of the machine-readable codes and extracting the references from the received photographs, and compiling the digital images corresponding to the received or extracted references into a second image collection.

An image capture device, comprising an image sensor, an image display, a data processing system; a storage memory and a program memory storing instructions configured to cause the data processing system to provide guidance for capturing images at a plurality of locations, by displaying guidance information for capturing a first digital image at a first location, using the image sensor to capture a first digital image, storing the first digital image in the storage memory, using the data processing system to analyze the pixel data of the first digital image and determining based on such analysis a second possible image capture location, wherein the second possible image capture location is selected from a plurality of different possible locations, displaying guidance information for a capturing a second scene at the second location, using the image sensor to capture a second digital image; and storing the second digital image in the storage memory.

A method of using a machine-readable code to extract information includes using an image-capture device to capture a digital image of a machine-readable code encoding information wherein the image-capture device is positioned at any of a plurality of angles relative to the machine-readable code; using a processor to extract the information encoded in the machine-readable code; using the processor to analyze the captured digital image of the machine-readable code and calculate the relative positioned angle at which the image-capture device was positioned when the image-capture device captured the digital image of the machine-readable code; and using the processor and the calculated relative positioned angle to determine information.

A method for providing guidance to a user as to what images should be captured by the user as the user moves from location to location, comprising receiving a first captured digital image having pixel data captured of a scene at a first location, using a processor to analyze the pixel data of the first captured digital image and determining based on such analysis a second possible image capture location for the user, wherein the second possible image capture location is selected from a plurality of different possible locations, and transmitting guidance to the user over a communications network, the guidance including information concerning a next scene to be captured at the second location.

Correction of color defects in a pupil represented in a digital image is disclosed. For example, a location in the pupil within the digital image is identified, and a target color to be corrected is computed based at least upon an analysis of pixels within a first region in which the location resides. Defect pixels in a second region in which the location resides are identified, the defect pixels being identified as having a pixel color similar to the target color. The defect pixels are color-corrected. For pupils that appear all white, appropriately configured pupil images are inserted therein.

A method and apparatus for printing and/or displaying a customer image order in which a digital record of a customer order containing a plurality of images is obtained. Digital enhancement is made to at least one of the plurality of images. The amount of digital enhancement made to each of the images enhanced is determined and a rating based on the amount of correction made to each image is obtained. The customer image order is printed with at least one enhancement print and one without any enhancement so that they can be compared.

A method for specialized photofinishing goods and/or services produced from a one-time-use camera, including providing a label on the one-time-use camera, with at least one area containing first instructional information, that identifies particular photofinishing goods and/or services to be applied to images captured by the one-time-use camera. A method of processing customer image orders, each of at least one image capturing an original scene. An image content identification in the form of an image content identification signal, is generated based on an identification of one or more scene objects, for at least one image of a customer order. The generated image content identification is compared with different image content identifications stored in a memory in association with respective predetermined customer certificate data. When at least a generated image content identification matches a stored image content identification, generating a customer certificate from the stored certificate data associated with the matching stored image content identification. The method can be used with customer image sets which may not be image orders. An apparatus and computer program product which can execute such a method, are also provided.
