A galley cart includes walls defining an interior cavity extending between a front and a rear of the galley cart and the interior cavity extending between a top end and a bottom end. A supply port is provided in flow communication with the interior cavity and a return port is provided in flow communication with the interior cavity. A barrier is positioned between the supply port and the return port within the interior cavity of the cart to define a supply chamber and a return chamber to control airflow through the interior cavity.

Galley cart and galley system of an aircraft

A galley refrigeration system is provided in which a galley cart is positioned in the cavity of a galley compartment comprising at least a cart-facing opening positioned in a vertically intermediate region of the back wall, the galley cart or the galley compartment having a duct-facing opening positioned adjacent to the cart-facing opening. A heat exchanger configured to generate cooling air is provided within the galley compartment, adjacent the vertically intermediate region of the back wall of the galley compartment defining the cavity. An air supply duct, provided at the cart-facing opening, is configured to guide the cooling air from the heat exchanger into the galley cart, and configured to be detachably coupled to the duct-facing opening of the cart or the galley compartment. An electronically actuated valve controls a variable flow rate of the cooling air from the air supply duct into the galley cart.

Galley refrigeration system

The present disclosure provides system for sealing a refrigerated galley of an aircraft. The system includes a door, and a seal assembly positioned at a bottom surface of the door. The seal assembly includes (i) a housing coupled to the bottom surface of the door, (ii) a seal positioned at least partially in the housing, wherein the seal is moveable relative to the housing and the door, (iii) a biasing mechanism coupled to the housing and the seal and configured to hold the seal in a relaxed state by applying a biasing force to the seal in a direction away from a floor surface of the refrigerated galley, and (iv) an activation mechanism coupled to the housing. The activation mechanism is configured to transition the seal from the relaxed state to a compressed state in response to a rotation of the door from an open position to a closed position.

Systems and methods for sealing a refrigerated galley of an aircraft

An aircraft monument for use in a cabin of an aircraft includes a monument assembly and a seat assembly. The monument assembly includes a frame having a plurality of walls defining a compartment. The plurality of walls include a first end wall having a forward section at a forward plane of the frame. The compartment is defined rearward of the forward section. The seat assembly is forward of the frame. The seat assembly has a shell configured to at least partially surround a passenger seat. The shell has a rear rearward of the forward plane of the frame.

Aircraft monument and a seat assembly

The present disclosure provides a system for sealing a compartment. The system includes a door with a seal positioned on a bottom surface of the door. The system also includes one or more hinges coupled to the door. The door rotates from a closed position to an open position via the one or more hinges. A height of the door with respect to a floor surface increases in response to a rotation of the door from the closed position to the open position due to a helical slope of both a first cam surface of the one or more hinges and a second cam surface of the one or more hinges. The seal transitions from a compressed state to a relaxed state in response to the rotation of the door from the closed position to the open position.

Systems and methods for sealing a compartment

An air supply and return system for a heat exchanger of a galley includes a supply duct configured to extend from the heat exchanger to a cart compartment of the galley, an air-through supply vent in flow communication with the supply duct and configured to be in flow communication with an air-through galley cart in the cart compartment, an air-over supply vent in flow communication with the supply duct and configured to be in flow communication with the cart compartment for supplying cooled airflow for an air-over galley cart in the cart compartment, and a return duct configured to extend from the cart compartment to the heat exchanger to return air to the heat exchanger. The return duct has an air return device in flow communication with the return duct and configured to be in flow communication with the cart compartment to receive airflow therefrom.

Air supply and return system of a galley of an aircraft

A galley includes a cart compartment configured to receive at least one galley cart. The cart compartment is defined by a plurality of walls including a rear wall behind the cart compartment, side walls along sides of the cart compartment, a mid-wall above the cart compartment and a bottom wall below the cart compartment. Doors are coupled to the cart compartment to enclose and allow access to the cart compartment. A supply duct supplies cooled airflow to the cart compartment. The supply duct is positioned in the cart compartment forward of the rear wall and positioned in the cart compartment between the mid-wall and the bottom wall. The supply duct includes a supply device to allow airflow from an interior of the supply duct into the cart compartment.

Galley system of an aircraft

A seal assembly for use with a door within a frame of a galley of an aircraft includes a seal configured to be movably coupled to the door and a seal holder holding the seal. The seal assembly includes a biasing mechanism coupled to the seal holder and configured to hold the seal in an open position by applying a biasing force to the seal holder. An activation mechanism is operably coupled to the seal holder that overcomes the biasing force to move the seal from the open position to a sealed position.

Seal assembly for a galley door of a galley and method of assembling a galley with a seal assembly

A galley cart includes walls defining an interior cavity extending between a front and a rear of the galley cart and the interior cavity extending between a top end and a bottom end. A supply port is provided in flow communication with the interior cavity at or near either the top end or the bottom end of the cart. A return port is provided in flow communication with the interior cavity that is adjacent the supply port at or near the top end or the bottom end of the cart. A barrier is positioned between the supply port and the return port within the interior cavity of the cart to define a supply chamber and a return chamber to control airflow through the interior cavity.

A galley includes a cart compartment having a chamber defined by a rear wall behind the cart compartment, side walls along sides of the cart compartment, a mid-wall above the cart compartment and a bottom wall below the cart compartment. The galley includes a supply duct having an air supply device at the cart compartment having an air-through supply vent configured to be in flow communication with an air-through galley cart when received in the cart compartment to supply cooled airflow into an interior of the air-through galley cart and an air-over supply vent configured to be in flow communication with the chamber to supply the cooled airflow into the chamber for cooling an exterior of an air-over galley cart when received in the cart compartment. The galley includes a return duct having an air return device receiving the airflow from the cart compartment.

An exhaust system for an aircraft galley chiller is provided. The exhaust system includes a galley having a chiller that includes an inlet, a condenser fan inlet, a condenser fan outlet proximate to chiller inlet, and a first flow of air through the condenser, an air ventilation outlet conduit that includes a second flow of air therethrough, and an ejector pump. The ejector pump includes a first airflow inlet, a second airflow inlet and an airflow outlet, wherein the first airflow inlet is coupled in flow communication with the condenser fan outlet, the second inlet is coupled in flow communication with the air ventilation outlet conduit. As the second airflow increases, the first velocity increases in a direction away from the galley chiller facilitating a decrease in temperature at the condenser fan inlet.

Aircraft galley exhaust system and method of assembling same

A refrigeration system having an airflow supply system having a supply duct providing cooled air from a refrigeration unit to a plurality of galley carts received in one or more cart compartments includes a plurality of valves coupled in the airflow supply system for controlling flows of the cooled air to the plurality of galley carts in the one or more cart compartments, where each valve of the plurality of valves is associated with a respective galley cart. The refrigeration system includes a plurality of primary valve control actuators each coupled to a respective valve and configured to reposition the respective valve during a first mode of operation. The refrigeration system includes a backup valve control actuator coupled to at least one of the plurality of valves and configured to reposition the at least one of the plurality of valves during a second mode of operation.

A galley system includes a galley compartment defining a cavity. The galley compartment has a door that allows access to the cavity. A galley cart is positionable in the cavity of the galley compartment that has a first opening and a second opening. An air supply and return system is coupled in flow communication with the first opening of the galley cart and the second opening of the galley compartment. A space is defined about the galley cart when the galley cart is positioned in the cavity. The space provides flow communication between the second opening of the galley cart and the second opening of the galley compartment.

Galley compartment for a galley system of an aircraft

An aircraft includes a cabin wall defining a cabin and a convertible monument in the cabin adjacent the cabin wall. The convertible monument has a plurality of monument walls defining sides, a front and a rear of the monument surrounding a chamber defined by the monument walls. The convertible monument has a closet component positioned in the chamber for supporting non-perishable items in the chamber. The chamber has a convertible area convertible between a cooling compartment and an uncooled compartment. A chiller is positioned in the chamber proximate the convertible area. The chiller is configured to supply cool air to the cooling compartment when operated for cooling perishable items stowed in the cooling compartment. The convertible area is used as an uncooled compartment for stowing non-perishable items when the chiller is inactive.
