A high pressure volumetric fluid metering device for controlling the flow of fluid from a high pressure fluid supply source to a process line includes a modulator configured to pump a predetermined volume of high pressure fluid at a predetermined flow rate and an oscillator in fluid communication with the high pressure fluid supply source. The oscillator is configured to selectively direct high pressure fluid from the high pressure fluid supply source toward the modulator and further configured to direct the predetermined volume of high pressure fluid pumped out of the modulator toward an oscillator outlet. The metering device further includes a differential pressure regulator configured to substantially maintain the pressure differential across the modulator and oscillator.

An automatic drilling fluid property analyzer including a housing having an inlet and an outlet; at least one valve disposed proximate the inlet and configured to open and close to provide a sample of fluid into the housing; an electronic control module configured to send a signal to the at least one valve; a probe assembly operatively coupled to the electronic control module, the probe assembly including an electrode probe having two electrodes and a probe gap therebetween; a viscometer sleeve disposed in the housing; a bob disposed in the sleeve, wherein an annulus is formed between the viscometer sleeve and the bob, and wherein at least one of the viscometer sleeve and the bob is configured to rotate, a motor operatively coupled to at least one of the viscometer sleeve and the bob; and a torque measuring device operatively coupled to the viscometer sleeve and the bob.

Automated drilling fluid analyzer

An x-ray fluorescence apparatus for measuring properties of a sample fluid, the apparatus comprising a housing having an inlet and an outlet; a test chamber disposed within the housing, the test chamber comprising an injection port in fluid communication with the inlet; a slide disposed within the test chamber, the slide comprising a sample cavity; and a test port; an x-ray fluorescence spectrometer disposed within the housing, and at least one motor operatively coupled to the slide of the test chamber. Also, a method of testing a fluid, the method comprising injecting a fluid through an injection port of a test chamber into a sample cavity of a slide; moving the slide laterally within the test chamber to an intermediate position; moving the slide laterally within the test chamber to a test position; and actuating an x-ray fluorescence spectrometer to sample the fluid within the sample cavity when the slide is in the test position.

X-ray fluorescence analyzer

An adjustable pressure control valve includes a body having an inlet port and an outlet port and a handle assembly having a threaded portion and an adjustment knob. A seat assembly disposed within the body includes a seat holder in communication with the outlet port that is received on the threaded portion of the handle assembly, wherein the seat holder is translatable in first and second directions when the handle assembly is rotated in first and second directions. The seat assembly also includes a valve seat fluidly affixed to the seat holder, wherein fluid can pass through the valve seat and the seat holder. The valve includes a pin biased by a pin spring that is engageable with the valve seat, and a main spring engageable with the pin to urge the pin against the valve seat to accommodate the pressure and volume of the fluid in the valve.

Pressure regulator incorporating a pressure balanced moving seat

The present invention provides adjustable flow control valves,for controlling flow of a fluid from a fluid supply. The valves of the present invention can accurately regulate a wide range of flow rates and require a relatively small amount of torque to adjust the flow rate of the valve during operation. The valves of the present invention include a flow control component,and a pressure control component,The adjustable flow control valves of the present invention are capable of accurately regulating a wide range of fluid flow rates. The valves of the present invention possess a very high turndown ratio, preferably up to about 200:1.

Metering valve

A nozzle (10) for emitting water, for the purpose of extinguishing fires for example, generally includes a main housing (12) for housing a barrel (62), a deflector (64), and a carrier (60). The barrel (62) supports the deflector (64) and is disposed inside of the carrier (60). When water is supplied to the nozzle (10), a locking pin (59) engages a helical groove (80) on the carrier (60). When the locking pin (59) is engaged, rotation of a spray ring assembly (18) coaxially installed around the upstream end of the nozzle (10) causes the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) to translate forward or to retract, depending on the direction of the rotation. When the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) are translated forward to the jet position, water exits the nozzle (10) as a concentrated jet stream. When the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) are retracted to the fog position, water exits the nozzle (10) as a less concentrated water spray. If the water pressure falls below a predetermined level, the locking pin (59) disengages and a carrier spring (90) between the barrel (62) and the carrier (60) causes the carrier (60) and the spray ring assembly (18) to automatically retract to the fog position.

Autofog nozzle

An adjustable metering valve (10) includes an upper housing (12) and lower housing (16) that cooperatively define an internal valve chamber (30) having an inlet end (80) and an outlet end (42). An inlet port (20) opens into the inlet end of the valve chamber, and an outlet port (24) provides for fluid flow exiting the outlet end (42) of the valve chamber. A floating piston (106) is slidably mounted within the valve chamber between the inlet and outlet ports. A seal (114) is provided between the piston and an interior side wall (44) of the valve chamber to prevent fluid flow past the piston except through an internal passage (118) through the piston. A valve seat (38) is mounted in the housing within the outlet end of the valve chamber, upstream of the outlet port. A valve pin (36) is carried by a pin assembly (34) that is threaded into the internal passage of the piston. The career assembly is threadably advanceable within the internal passage of the piston to adjust the position of the valve pin relative to the valve seat to open, close, and adjust the rate of fluid flow through the valve. A rotatable valve shaft (28) having a keyed end (97) that is slidably engaged within a correspondingly keyed passage (140) formed in the pin assembly is provided for advancement of the pin assembly to adjust the rate of fluid flow through the valve chamber.

Metering valve with adjustable floating piston and pin assembly

An adjustable metering valve (10) includes an upper housing (12) and lower housing (16) that cooperatively define an internal valve chamber (30) having an inlet end (80) and an outlet end (42). An inlet port (20) opens into the inlet end of the valve chamber, and an outlet port (24) provides for fluid flow exiting the outlet end (42) of the valve chamber. A floating piston (106) is slidably mounted within the valve chamber between the inlet and outlet ports. A seal (114) is provided between the piston and an interior side wall (44) of the valve chamber to prevent fluid flow past the piston except through an internal passage (118) through the piston. A valve seat (38) is mounted in the housing within the outlet end of the valve chamber, upstream of the outlet port. A valve pin (36) is carried by a pin assembly (34) that is threaded into the internal passage of the piston. The carrier assembly is threadably advanceable within the internal passage of the piston to adjust the position of the valve pin relative to the valve seat to open, close, and adjust the rate of fluid flow through the valve. A rotatable valve shaft (28) having a keyed end (97) that is slidably engaged within a correspondingly keyed passage (140) formed in the pin assembly is provided for advancement of the pin assembly to adjust the rate of fluid flow through the valve chamber.

A substantially constant flow regulating valve includes a piston dividing a bore into two chambers. The piston is spring biased toward the top chamber of the bore. Fluid from the inlet enters the top chamber through a reference pressure passage and exerts a downward force on the piston. Fluid from the inlet also passes through an inlet flow throttle and into the bottom chamber of the bore where it exerts an upward force on the piston in concert with the spring force. The piston includes an end which variably interacts with an orifice in the lower chamber to maintain a constant pressure differential between the top and bottom chambers.

Partitioned flow regulating valve

A valve (10) which includes a valve body (12) having a plurality of ports (32) around the periphery thereof, which open onto a central opening (22). A drum assembly (14) is configured to fit within the opening (22) and is mounted for rotation therein. The drum assembly (14) also includes a plurality of openings (38) around the periphery thereof, which are arranged to be capable of being in registry with the openings (22) in the valve body (12). The drum assembly includes a vane member defining interior passageways connecting the openings (22). An actuator assembly (18) is adapted to rotate the drum assembly (14) within the valve body (12) in response to electrical actuation signals.
