A tissue-removing catheter includes a cutting element. A radially innermost portion of the leading radial wall of a raised element of the cutting element may be spaced a radial distance from the longitudinal axis that is less than 66% of the radius of the annular cutting edge. The cutting element may be extendable through the window during operation such that as the cutting element is being rotated about its longitudinal axis, less than an entire radial portion of the leading radial wall passes through the window. A plurality of abrading members may be formed on at least the central portion of the inner surface of the cutting element to abrade hardened tissue as the cutting element is rotating about its longitudinal axis. A radially outermost portion of the leading radial edge of the raised element may be spaced apart radially from an inner surface of the cutting element.

A deployment mechanism of a tissue-removing catheter includes a socket member received in a catheter body that is capable of moving longitudinally therein, and a ball member extending distally from the distal end portion of the cutting element and operatively connected to the socket member. The ball member is constrained axially relative to the socket member and is capable of pivoting relative to the socket member for allowing pivoting of the cutting element relative to the socket when the cutting element is moved from a retracted position to a cutting position.

A tissue-removing catheter includes a catheter body and a tissue-removing head. The catheter body has an annular shearing blade at the distal end thereof. A compression device includes at least one pressurizable bladder to substantially occlude blood flow into skin capillary beds adjacent to the at least one pressurizable bladder, and a plurality of perfusion sensors. In operation a first-angiosome sensor detects the perfusion parameter of a skin capillary bed in a first angiosome of the limb, and a second-angiosome sensor detects the perfusion parameter of a skin capillary bed in a second angiosome of the limb that is different from the first angiosome. A control circuit maps sensor signals from the first-angiosome sensor to the first angiosome or a first artery of the limb, and maps sensor signals from the second-angiosome sensor to the second angiosome or a second artery of the limb different from the first artery of the limb. For each perfusion sensor, the control circuit determines whether the received sensor signals are indicative of peripheral artery disease.

Catheters and methods for removing material from (or 'debulking') a body lumen while imaging the region comprised of the material are provided. The catheters can be used in body lumens, including but not limited to intravascular lumens such as coronary or peripheral arteries. The catheters include housings or other structures to mount or protect an imaging transducer. Generally, debulking catheters include a proximal portion, a distal portion having an opening, a cutting element which may be exposed through the opening to contact material in a body lumen and an imaging transducer with associated circuitry and display. The catheter debulks a body lumen when it is moved while the cutting element is in contact with the material in the lumen and the region comprised of the material is imaged before, after, or during catheter movement.
