Methods for treating cardiac complex rhythm disorder in a patient can include receiving a plurality of electrical signals from a sensor system, wherein each electrical signal corresponds with a separate location on a cardiac wall of the heart of the patient, and wherein each electrical signal comprises an electrogram waveform; and ranking the electrical signals relative to each other based on at least a uniformity and a frequency of the electrogram waveform of each electrical signal.

A defibrillator can include a first electrode and a second electrode where at least one of the electrodes includes more than one independently positionable pad. Such independently positionable pads, in various instances, may allow for alternative positioning of the components of an electrode when defibrillation is carried out during electrophysiological procedures in which placement of conventional electrodes is inadvisable, difficult, or impractical.

A holding device for elongated instruments can include a channel for receiving therein an intermediate portion of an elongated instrument. The holding device can include a lock that includes a seat against which the elongated instrument can rest and a resiliently deformable retention arm that is movable relative to the seat. The lock, when in the securing state, can retain within the channel the intermediate portion of the elongated instrument to prevent the intermediate portion from one or more of translating or rotating relative to the device.

Systems for ablating tissue can include a pair of electrode assemblies. The electrode assemblies can automatically align on opposing sides of operative tissue due to magnetic interaction. One assembly can move automatically in response to the other assembly due to the magnetic interaction. Some systems are capable of cooling the electrode assemblies during ablation procedures.
