The present invention is directed to a grease-cutting detergent composition that exhibits a stable foaming profile when used with non-enclosed automatic dishwashers. The composition can be sold in a concentrated form or in ready-to-use (RTU) diluted form. The concentrated compositions are formulated to be diluted with water before use. The RTU formulas are intended for as-is usage. In one embodiment the concentrated compositions comprises a) from about 0.25% to about 10% of a surfactant, b) from about 4% to about 8% of an alkalinity source, c) from about 0.1% to about 4.0% of a hydrotrope, d) from about 0.001% to about 2.0% of a builder, and e) from about 0.01% to about 3.0% of a thickener. In another embodiment an RTU formulation comprises a) from about 50 ppm to about 80 ppm of a surfactant, b) from about 45 ppm to about 75 ppm of an alkalinity source, c) from about 20 ppm to about 45 ppm of a hydrotrope, d) from about 0.1 ppm to about 5 ppm of a builder, and e) from about 5 ppm to about 18 ppm of a thickener. The concentrated compositions have a pH of from about 12 to about 13, preferably from about 12.40 to about 12.60, and most preferably from about 12.45 to about 12.55. The concentrated compositions preferably are diluted by the end user at a ratio of from about 1:700 to about 1:1100 parts cleaning composition to water, more preferably from about 1.800 to about 1:1000 parts cleaning composition to water. Concentrated detergent compositions with stable sudsing characteristics

No-rinse floor cleaning compositions which provide improved burnish response to finished floors are sold in concentrated form or in diluted, ready to use form. The concentrated compositions when diluted with water comprise from about 100 ppm to about 750 ppm of an amine oxide surfactant, from about 0 ppm to about 650 ppm of a nonionic surfactant, and from about 1 ppm to about 40 ppm of a silicone antifoam agent. These floor cleaning compositions are substantially free of harsh chemicals and are particularly suitable for use on highly polished floors in commercial environments where daily burnishing is most often utilized.

Floor cleaners which provide improved burnish response

Mildly acidic liquid hard surface cleaning concentrated compositions comprise: a) from 0.5 to 40 parts of an amine oxide detergent; preferably 1 to 25 parts; b) from 1 to 30 parts of a quaternary disinfectant (quat); preferably 2 to 16 parts; c) an effective amount of an acidifying agent; preferably 0.05 part to 10 parts; and d) an effective amount of an electrolytic disinfecting booster; preferably 0.5 to 12 parts; wherein said compositions have a pH of from 3 to less than 7 and wherein when used the concentrated compositions are diluted with water at a ratio of concentrate to water of 1:1 to 1:600, preferably 1:30 to 1:260 by volume, to provide superior, no-rinse ready-to-use cleaning and disinfecting compositions.

Cleaning and disinfecting compositions with electrolytic disinfecting booster

Hard surface cleaning compositions which cause little or no vinyl staining comprise from about 1% to about 60% of an amine oxide detergent surfactant having the formula R.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3 NO, wherein R.sup.1 has from about 8 to about 30 carbon atoms, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each individually has from about 1 to about 18 carbon atoms; an aqueous carrier liquid; an amine; and no more than about 2% anionic surfactant. At least a portion of the amine is protonated, and the molar ratio of protonated amine to amine oxide is at least 0.1:1.

Compositions and methods for cleaning hard surfaces using protonated

Disclosed are mildly acidic liquid compositions for use in cleaning hard surfaces. The compositions contain from about 1% to about 60% of an amine oxide detergent surfactant, an aqueous carrier liquid, and an acidifying agent having a pK.sub.a of less than about 6.0. The compositions contain enough of the acidifying agent to protonate at least about 10% of the amine oxide species within the compositions and to provide a composition pH of between about 3 and 7. These no-rinse liquid hard surface cleaning compositions have excellent cleaning properties, they do not leave a visible residue when they dry, and they cause minimal or no staining of vinyl surfaces. Also disclosed are a method for cleaning vinyl surfaces using the liquid compositions, and non-liquid compositions from which the mildly acidic liquid compositions can easily be obtained by adding an aqueous liquid.

Mildly acidic hard surface cleaning compositions containing amine oxide

Disclosed are detergent compositions comprising a suds inhibiting amount of a synergistic antifoaming combination, and preferably further comprising a high-sudsing surfactant such as an amine oxide surfactant. The antifoaming combination consists of a carboxylated poly(oxyalkylated) alcohol cosurfactant and a silicone antifoaming agent in a weight ratio of from about 1:50 to about 1000:1. Both individual elements of the antifoaming combination are known. The carboxylated poly(oxyalkylated) alcohol has the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrocarbon-containing group having from about 6 to about 18 carbon atoms; each R' is independently selected from the group of hydrogen, methyl and carboxylic acid-containing groups having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms wherein the cosurfactant contains at least one such carboxylic acid-containing group; M is selected from the group of hydrogen and sulfate; x is a number from about 3 to about 75.

Disclosed are solid, concentrated, amine oxide surfactant compositions containing amine oxide- maleic acid salts. The molar ratio of maleic acid to amine oxide in such salts is about a 1:1. The salts are soluble in water at 25.degree. C. at a pH of above the pKa of the amine oxide. Also disclosed is a process for preparing such solid amine oxide surfactant compositions, which process comprises admixing maleic acid and amine oxide surfactants in at least about a 1:1 molar ratio, at a pH of at least about 1 units less than the pKa of the amine oxide, to thereby form a visible precipitate therein. The precipitate is separated from the mixture, preferably by mechanical means, and dried. The dried precipitate is a maleic acid-amine oxide salt which can be incorporated into cleaning products, especially solid or granular cleaning products, as a solid, concentrated source of amine oxide surfactant.

Solid compositions containing amine oxide-maleic acid salts

Disclosed is a process for making solid formulations containing amine oxide surfactants. Maleic acid, or a water soluble salt thereof, is admixed with an aqueous liquid amine oxide formulation, which formulation preferably contains from about 20% to about 40% by weight of an amine oxide surfactant. The molar ratio of maleic acid to amine oxide surfactant is at least about 1:1. Admixture pH is maintained at or below, or reduced to at least, about 1 unit below the pKa of the amine oxide to form a visible precipitate therein. The precipitate is separated from the mixture, preferably by mechanical means, and dried. The dried precipitate is a maleic acid-amine oxide salt which can be incorporated into cleaning products, especially solid or granular cleaning products, as a source of amine oxide surfactant.

Process for making solid formulations containing amine oxide surfactants

A pouched, detergent-compatible, through-the-wash, dryer-released, jumbo particulate fabric softening composition. The particle size of this particulate is from about 5 mm to about 30 mm, and preferably at least 10 mm. The low viscoisty jumbo particulate fabric softener is made to survive the wash more so than comparable smaller particulates and release more in the dryer than higher viscosity softener. The softener particulate of this invention has a low viscosity at about its melting point for good softener transferability from the pouch to the fabric, superior release in the dryer, and reduced residual pouch staining.

Perfume particles which are especially useful when incorporated into a fabric softening composition are formed by adsorbing a perfume composition onto silica particles. Those particles having a diameter of greater than about one micron also can be used to reduce the shiny appearance of visible softener spots which occasionally are present on fabrics treated with said fabric softening compositions and to maintain a relatively constant viscosity of the molten softening composition.

Fabric softener particles comprising an inner core of fabric softening composition and an outer coating completely surrounding said core.
