A circular polarized signal receiving antenna includes an active element having first and second ends separated by a gap. A dimension of the active element between the first and second ends thereof corresponds to approximately one wavelength of a resonant operating frequency of the antenna. A feed-point is coupled to the active element, wherein the feed-point is located approximately one-quarter of the wavelength from the first end of the active element and approximately three-quarters of the wavelength from the second end of the active element. In one embodiment, the feed-point is coupled to the active element.

The gravity switch provides a determination of the electronic device's orientation to the microprocessor. The microprocessor provides a display signal to the virtual image display based on the orientation of the electronic device. The microprocessor rotates the input from a display interface based on the orientation of the electronic device. The microprocessor includes a time hysteresis to prevent inadvertent changes to the image orientation due to momentary movements of the electronic device.

The data fields are for infrared emission by the light source. A receiver circuit processor (316 or 508) is coupled to input samples to detect the presence of a precursor during a predetermined time period, and sleeping for a time interval, between inputting samples, which is substantially longer than the predetermined time period. The transmitter circuit transmits the precursor for a period of time at least as long as the sleep interval.

Reliable communication is provided by a radio frequency identification system comprising at least one of an interrogator (102) and a transponder (104). Method and radio frequency identification system for a novel protocol

The integrated shielding and mechanical support simultaneously addresses the problems of providing RF shielding for an electronic device such as a radio transceiver and providing a rigid mechanical assembly for the electronic device. Two conductive rails (120, 130) hold together multiple printed circuit boards (PCBs) (140, 160) having conductive layers (145, 165) to produce a four-sided shielding box (180) that protects certain electronic circuits on the PCBs from electromagnetic interference. An internal conductive shield (150) subdivides the inside of the shielding box to provide additional protection for sensitive circuitry. The shielding box inserts into an opening in a five-sided housing section (110) using guides (112, 114, 116, 118), which simplifies assembly of PCBs in the housing and facilitates automated assembly. A second housing section (190) attaches to the shielding box (180) once it is inserted into the five-sided housing section (110).

When the transmitter is turned on a stepped transition (415) is generated at the beginning (3) of the transition region (409) followed by a shaped transition (417) to the end (6) of the transition region (409). When the transmitter (500) is turned off a shaped transition region (417') is generated at the beginning (162) of the transition region (411) followed by a stepped transition (415') at the end (3) of the transition region (411). The stepped transition (415 or 415') is generated by adjusting a voltage controlled attenuator (545) and the bias of a power amplifier (545) in the transmitter (500). The shaped transition (417 or 417') is generated by processing transmitted information through finite impulse response filters (507 or 509) before or after the time slot permitted for transmitting information.
