A printer includes an array of rollers, an array of printing elements, and a positioning structure. The array of rollers is arranged in a first arc configuration to rollingly support a media web in a first orientation. The array of printing elements is arranged in a second arc configuration along the first orientation and movable relative to the array of rollers to selectively modify a space there between. Each respective printing element is aligned directly above one of the respective rollers to define a printing unit. A positioning structure is configured to releasably secure each printing unit at one position of a plurality of positions along the respective first and second arc configurations.

In one embodiment, an inkjet printer includes: a first series of print bars arranged along an arc on a first side of an arched printing unit and a second series of print bars arranged along an arc on a second side of the arched printing unit and a dryer positioned within a footprint of the arched printing unit. A plurality of web guides are arranged to guide the web along a duplex printing path past the first print bars for printing on a first side of the web, then through the dryer for drying the first side of the web, then past the second print bars for printing on a second side of the web, and then through the dryer for drying the second side of the web.

A web press printer includes a printbar supporting an array of printheads extending across a media web. The printbar includes a support member coupled to the printbar via one or more biasing mechanisms to locally counteract a deflection of the printbar at a location of one or more of the respective printheads along the printbar.

A web flow path extends in a first direction opposite a print head and in a second opposite direction from the print head to a dryer.

In one embodiment, a web printer includes a base, an arched member detachably supported on the base for supporting a web, and multiple print bars each detachably supported on the arched member. A positioning system is operatively connected between the arched member and the base when the arched member is supported on the base for aligning the arched member to the base. In one embodiment, the web printer also includes a second positioning system operatively connected between each print bar and the arched member when the print bar is supported on the arched member for aligning the print bars to the arched member.

Web printer and support structure

A web press printer includes a frame spaced above a media support and at least one printbar removably secured to the frame. The at least one printbar supports an array of printheads extending generally transverse to the media support. The at least one printbar also includes a connector and a routing mechanism. The connector is configured to releasably connect to an element supply that is external to the at least one printbar. The routing mechanism is in communication with the element supply via the connector and configured to separately route the supplied element to each respective printhead.
