A switchable modular jack assembly includes a housing which defines a receptacle for receiving an RJ14 modular plug, and a socket for receiving a pre-wired adapter plug. Each of the RJ14 modular plug and the adapter plug has electrical contacts on an exposed surface thereof. The jack assembly also includes leaf spring electrical contacts which extend into the receptacle and socket. When no RJ14 modular plug is received by the receptacle, the leaf spring electrical contacts contact the electrical contacts of the adapter plug. When an RJ14 modular plug is received by the receptacle, the leaf spring electrical contacts contact the electrical contacts of the RJ14 modular plug, but not the electrical contacts of the adapter plug.

Switchable modular jack assembly for telecommunications systems

Planting pots and a multi-compartment tray are provided, the pots and tray having a self-orienting configuration for urging the pots into proper alignment when same are placed within compartments of the tray. The pots include angled recesses disposed radially about the bottom portion of the pots. The compartments of the tray include angled protrusions disposed radially about the bottom portion of the compartment. The angled recesses of the pot engage with the angled protrusions of the compartment when the pot is placed in the compartment to urge the pot into proper alignment. A plurality of slots are included along an upper portion of each pot for allowing optional identification tags to be inserted thereinto. The identification tags, in addition to logos, artwork, or other indicia, if included, are positioned by the self-orienting configuration of the pots and tray to face in a desired direction.

A first component includes either linear bearings or linear shafts that are located at a fixed hole-to-hole or center-to-center distance. A second component, having linear shafts or linear bearings, respectively, is capable of adjusting the center-to-center or hole-to-hole distance of those second linear shafts or linear bearings. The center-to-center or hole-to-hole distance can be adjusted by relative motion between a first sub-component and a second sub-component of the second component, and/or deforming an elastically-deformable element of the second component. The second component can include a rigid stabilizing element and an elastically-deformable element. The elastically-deformable element can act as a pseudo-spring to adjust the center-to-center or hole-to-hole distance of the linear shafts or bearings that are attached to this second component to the appropriate fixed hole-to-hole or center-to-center distance of the other of the linear bearings or linear shafts as the carriage travels along the path of motion.

Systems and methods for reducing slide bearing tolerances

A modular device for a telephone network interface apparatus having separate connection and plug-actuated testing compartments. The compartment for connection having at least one pair of contact wires for connection to a subscriber premises line and at least one pair of contact wires for connection to an incoming telephone company line, and an arm member mounted for insertion in the connecting compartment and into engagement with the subscriber and telephone company contact wires effecting the connection between the pair of subscriber contact wires and the pair of telephone company contact wires and for being withdrawn from the connecting compartment causing the subscriber contact wires to be disconnected from the telephone company contact wires to provide a point for demarcation therebetween. The subscriber contact wires and telephone company contact wires are preferably oriented in a manner to facilitate their physical connection through the contact engagement of a nonconducting arm member inserted within the connecting department. The compartment for testing having at least one pair of telephone company contact wires for engagement with the plug of an operating telephone inserted into the testing compartment to facilitate the determination of whether a fault exists on the subscriber premises line or the incoming telephone company line. The telephone company contact wires within the testing compartment are preferably spaced apart and/or separated by insulating material in a manner to improve their dielectric strength.

A fusible link device comprising a housing that contains terminals for terminating incoming/outgoing wires, and that also contains a fusible link that interconnects a pair of the terminals in series, the fusible link device providing a self-contained unit/module for terminating and fusing wires to be electrically interconnected in series. The housing includes ports for inserting the wires that terminate on the terminals. These ports may be environmentally protected, such as by gel-sealing. The terminals may be implemented as insulation displacement connectors for connecting the wires and/or the fusible links. In one implementation, the fusible link device may contain a total of four of the terminals and two fusible links for terminating and fusing the tip and ring lines in a telecommunications network. The fusible link device may also include one or more voltage protection devices, of the same or different type, electrically connected across terminals that are not series connected to each other.

The use of bootless nozzles in combination with strict environmental vapor emissions compliance is made possible because of specific system advantages, which include the use of a burner designed to operate at two different flow rates, a coaxial processor stack which permits second and third stage combustion of excess gasoline vapor generated by the system before it is released to atmosphere, and a remote sensor which continually monitors system vacuum pressure to ensure that a sufficient vacuum is maintained at all times. A major advantage of the present system is that the processor unit is adaptable for installation into existing gasoline vapor recovery systems and into other systems, including other manufacturer's systems.

Method and apparatus for controlling gasoline vapor emissions

A telephone network interface apparatus for use in the subscriber loop of a telephone transmission system, i.e., connected to a non-telephone company owned premise wiring (a consumer household) and a telephone company owned portion of such loop at the junction where the two connect to each other. The apparatus provides limited access to the open top base member, i.e., only a portion of the base member is made readily accessible to the consumer by providing a cover readily opened by him and a shield cover which may be readily opened by telephone company employees in order to provide access to electronic components owned by the telephone company disposed with the base member. Both covers are free of apertures communicating with the inside of he base member. The device includes a base structure which includes a first and second set of terminals and a plug and receptacle arrangement for disconnecting the premises wiring from the telephone transmission system. The first set of terminals and the plugs and receptacles are accessible to the consumer and access is denied to the remaining portion of the base member which includes a second set of terminals and a plurality of electronic components, unless opened by a telephone company employee having the proper tool therefor. The apparatus is provided with an invasive free cover to protect the internal components from water condensation.
