A method for removing a material from a surface of a substrate includes impinging a laser beam on the material during a first sweep to remove the material from the surface along a first line and impinging the laser beam on the material during a second sweep to remove the material from the surface along a second line adjacent to the first line. The first line includes first artifacts that form a first portion of an array of artifacts on the surface. The second line includes second artifacts that form a second portion of the array of artifacts on the surface. A first laser pulse of the laser beam corresponding with the second sweep is synchronized with a start of the second sweep when transitioning between the first line and the second line such that the start of the second sweep coincides with the first laser pulse.

Reducing diffraction effects on an ablated surface

A method for removing a material from a surface includes passing a laser through a lens such that the laser impinges on the material. The surface from which the material is removed has an array of artifacts thereon with a spacing between the artifacts and a pitch between lines of the artifacts. At least the spacing between the artifacts is varied.

A parking device for vehicles entering a ceiling-covered parking garage comprising a housing for substantially enclosing an electrical circuit, the electrical circuit including a light-emitting bulb and a switch for opening and closing the electrical circuit to light and unlight the bulb as well as a power supply, and further providing a cord for suspending the housing from the ceiling of the parking garage so that the housing may intercept the vehicle to be parked, close the switch of the circuit, thereby emitting a light signal to the driver of the vehicle to let the driver know that the vehicle has reached the predetermined parking position.

Parking aid for parking vehicles in a covered garage

An elongated paste containing box is provided having a shaft supporting a roll of wall covering sheet adjacent the rear face of the rear wall of the box. A bottom wall is pivoted for vertical movement relative to the bottom edge of the front wall of the box and is spaced from the bottom edge of the rear wall of the box so that a sheet of wall covering can be passed through the bottom of the box on the bottom wall and in contact with a body of adhesive paste contained therein. A linkage for applying a compressive force to opposite ends of the bottom wall is provided to permit a desired bow in the bottom wall to be produced and thus maintain the bottom wall in a desired, vertically spaced relationship to the front wall of the box to obtain either a uniform or a desired non-uniform deposit of paste from one lateral edge to the other lateral edge of the wall covering sheet passing through the box.
