A low-profile retentive abutment is used for securing dentures to a user's jaw. The low-profile abutment has an abutment fastener is used to mount an overdenture onto the user's jaw and has a body, a dimpled recession, and a retentive clasp. The dimple recession traverses into the body and forms a mounting point to attach the clasp to the body. The clasp is a connector that enables the overdenture to be detachably mounted onto the body. The clasp has a stop plate, a C-shaped frame, and a dimple protrusion. The stop plate ensures that the clasp is maintained in a desired orientation while attached to the body. The frame is connected in between the stop plate and the dimple protrusion so that the dimple protrusion engages into the dimple recession. Accordingly, the frame facilitates maintaining the clasp in an orientation that facilitates securely attaching the overdenture to the user's jaw.

A method of controlling radiation dosage of an X-Ray CT system includes applying radiation to a patient along a z-axis in an x-y plane at angles during rotations around the z-axis. The method also includes acquiring projections of the patient to reconstruct a 3D image of the patient's anatomy and controlling a dosage of the radiation by causing a same dosage of the radiation to be applied in the x-y plane to a posterior of the patient and to an anterior of the patient at a first portion along the length of the z-axis and causing a varied dosage of the radiation to be applied in the x-y plane at a second portion along the length of the z-axis. The varied dosage includes a first dosage applied to the posterior and a second dosage applied to the anterior that is less than the first dosage.

A computer-implemented method for automatically calibrating an RGB-D sensor and an imaging device using a transformation matrix includes using a medical image scanner to acquire a first dataset representative of an apparatus attached to a downward facing surface of a patient table, wherein corners of the apparatus are located at a plurality of corner locations. The plurality of corner locations are identified based on the first dataset and the RGB-D sensor is used to acquire a second dataset representative of a plurality of calibration markers displayed on an upward facing surface of the patient table at the corner locations. A plurality of calibration marker locations are identified based on the second dataset and the transformation matrix is generated by aligning the first dataset and the second dataset using the plurality of corner locations and the plurality of calibration marker locations. Then, a translation is added to the transformation matrix corresponding to a maximum height associated with the apparatus.

One or more selected features of the sectors of the myocardial wall are measured and applied to a decision surface. A determination is made as to whether each sector contains viable or non-viable myocardial tissue. An image that shows each sector of the myocardial wall and an indication of its viability is displayed.

The invention selects an initial model from a plurality of available initial models. This selection involves identifying an initial model based on physical similarity to the target object and then superimposing an initial model upon the target object, for each of the plurality of cross-sectional images. A determination is then made of an intersection contour of the initial model and a cross-sectional image of the target object and the determined intersection contour is refined in order to more closely delineate the target object. By sub-sampling points which represent the refined determined intersection contour, the invention obtains a sub-sampled contour dataset. The initial model is then adjusted towards the sub-samples contour to obtain a representative three dimensional model of the target object.
