The system and method for adaptively obtaining coefficients of an inverse model for both equalization and pre-distortion for a multi-channel and reconfigurable RF system. The system preforms real-time learning and adaption and does not require training sets. In some cases, the system learns new coefficients across time and transient changes in performance.

Modular multi-channel RF calibration architecture for linearization

An evanescent-mode cavity filter with an improved MEMS tuner design is disclosed. The MEMS tuner design allows for the independent control of individual poles in a multi-pole filter, which increases the adaptability of the filter in a crowded RF environment. The filter is further designed to minimize tuning voltages and hysteresis effects. A closed loop control system provides highly responsive tuning of the filter. The closed loop control allows for accurate and stable tuning that compensates for temperature and vibrational effects, while the tuner design enables fast tuning and significantly increases the resolution of the feedback measurement by eliminating charge buildup in the tuner substrate.

Wireless communication methods and systems using multiple sectored cells. In one example, each cell of a cellular coverage area is divided into a number of sectors. A number of different half duplex or full duplex channels are used in each cell to communicate between a base station and a number of subscriber stations located in the cell. At least some of the channels may be reused in other cells of the coverage area. Additionally, some channels may be reused both amongst sectors of a given cell and in other cells of the coverage area. The sectored cells are arranged with respect to one other such that interference amongst similarly oriented sectors of different cells using one or more same channels is reduced. In another example, two adjacent cells are arranged with respect to each other such that sectors of the two cells that are similarly oriented approximately along a bore axis of the two cells, and in which radiation is transmitted in the two cells in essentially a same direction approximately along the bore axis, use different channels.

Wireless communication methods and systems using multiple sectored cells

A solution for providing an improved fading margin environment for in-building wireless coverage. An optical fiber or other available broadband signal distribution network is used to distribute signals between centrally located base transceiver station (BTS) equipment and remotely located transceiver equipment referred to herein as a cable microcell integrator (CMI). The CMIs are deployed in a configuration to provide radio frequency coverage in a desired microcell area such as a building floor. In a preferred embodiment, a leaky coaxial cable is used as a radiating element within the microcell.

Low noise in-building distribution network for wireless signals

A wireless telephony system is described wherein remotely distributed transceivers, each of which has only a single antenna for receiving signals from wireless telephones, and such remote transceivers are located close enough so adjacent transceivers receive signals from the same wireless telephones to provide reverse link antenna diversity to help prevent loss of signal from a wireless telephone.

Reverse link antenna diversity in a wireless telephony system

Apparatus and a method are disclosed for a wireless telephony system to eliminate blind areas where signal coverage is weak or non-existent by providing remote transceivers that are physically located in the blind areas. A central transceiver located with a base telephone station and tower mounted antenna receives wireless telephony signals being transmitted by the antenna to a wireless telephone and forwards it over either an dedicated or existing broadband distribution network, such as a cable television distribution network, to the remote transceiver which transmits the same telephony signals in the blind area to a wireless telephone operating in the blind area. Telephony signals originating from a wireless telephone operating in the blind area are received by the remote transceiver and forwarded over either the dedicated or existing broadband distribution network to the central transceiver which inputs the telephony signals to the base telephone station.
