An elbow prosthesis includes a capitellar implant having an articulating head and a stem. The articulating head includes a first passage along a first axis, a second passage along a second axis, and a receiving groove. The stem includes a proximal end and a connecting end. The connecting end includes a curved body having a bore. The curved body selectively mates with the receiving groove such that the bore axially aligns with the first axis of the first passage in an assembled position for collectively receiving a securing member. The second axis is located between the first axis and the proximal end of the stem.

Elbow prosthesis

An elbow prosthesis constructed in accordance to one example of the present teachings can include a capitellar implant having an articulating head and a stem. The articulating head can have a first articulating surface positioned generally between a lateral side and a medial side. A passage can extend through the articulating head from the lateral side to the medial side. The articulating head can define a counterbore formed at the lateral side and that is concentric with the passage. According to other features, the elbow prosthesis can include a coronoid implant that has a body and a stem. The body can have a superior articulating surface that includes a central ridge and an anterior buttress. The central ridge can be configured to accommodate articulation with a trochlea in an implanted position.

A method and apparatus for replacing a selected portion of the anatomy is described. In particular, a prosthesis can be provided to replace a portion of an articulating joint, such as an elbow. The apparatus can be modular for various reasons and each of the modular portions can include a different dimension to achieve a selected result. For example, the prosthesis can achieve a different size condylar replacement, a selected offset, a selected articulation, or combinations thereof.

A bone fixation device comprises an elongated body. The elongated body includes a first end portion with a coil and an opposite second end portion with an elongated tail. The second end portion also includes an attachment portion configured for engagement with a fastener.

Intramedullary bone stent

A bone fixation assembly to promote healing of a bone fracture comprises a first bone engagement member and a second bone engagement member. The first bone engagement member comprises an elongated body with proximal and distal end portions, a projection, and an inner surface defining an opening. The second bone engagement member comprises a main body, first and second outer surfaces, an inner surface defining an aperture, and an inner surface defining an opening spaced from the aperture. One of the end portions of first bone engagement member is dimensioned to extend through the aperture of the second bone engagement member. The opening of the first bone engagement member and the opening of the second bone engagement member are aligned to receive a fastener when the elongated body extends through the aperture and contacts an outer surface of the second bone engagement member.

Bone fixation assembly

Systems for modular bone fixation may include first, second, and at least one third portion to aid in fracture reduction, simplify the surgical procedure, increase fracture fixation strength, and reduce irritation to the patient caused by the implant. In some examples, the at least one third portion may be separable from the first and second portions to further simplify the surgical procedure and reduce irritation to the patient.

Modular bone fixation system

A tool provides for coupling a first prosthetic to a second prosthetic. The tool can include a first arm having a first concave bearing surface configured to apply a force in a first direction. The tool can also include a second arm having a hook shaped member. The hook shaped member can have a second concave bearing surface configured to apply a force in a second direction opposite the first direction. The first arm and the second arm can be generally parallel, and the first arm can be translatable with respect to the second arm. The tool can include a translation force mechanism, which can apply force to the first arm and the second arm so as to cause generally parallel translation of the first arm and second arm.

Modular prosthesis and use thereof for replacing a radial head

A bone fixation apparatus comprises an extramedullary component, an intramedullary component, and a fastener configured and dimensioned to interconnect the extramedullary component and the intramedullary component. The fastener has a head portion and a shank portion. The head portion is configured and dimensioned to be received in the extramedullary component. The shank portion is configured and dimensioned to be received in the intramedullary component. The fastener has a first longitudinal axis extending through both the head portion and the shank portion. The extramedullary component has a second longitudinal axis. The extramedullary component also includes an elongated surface defining an opening through which the shank portion of the fastener passes when the shank portion is received in the intramedullary component. The opening has a V shape. The V shape is oriented transverse to the first longitudinal axis and to the second longitudinal axis.

Bone fixation apparatus and method

An elbow prosthesis can include a capitellar implant that has an articulating head and a stem. The articulating head can have a first substantially hemispherical portion and a second portion that collectively extend between lateral and medial sides of the articulating head and are separated by a plane. The first and second portions can generally extend between the lateral and medial sides. The second portion can generally have an attachment lobe that extends on the lateral side and that defines a passage therethrough. The passage can extend at least partially on the second portion.

An apparatus to promote bone fusion between portions of bone tissue comprises a bone engagement member and a flexible retention member. The bone engagement member comprises (a) an extramedullary bone contacting main body with a first surface defining a hole in the main body and (b) an intramedullary bone engaging projection extending from the main body. The projection engages the intramedullary portions of at least one the portions of bone tissue. The projection includes a second surface that defines a retention passage in the projection. The retention passage is spaced away from the hole and oriented transversely relative to the hole. The flexible retention member is configured and dimensioned to extend through the retention passage and into the hole to help retain the projection in intramedullary engagement with the at least one of the portions of bone tissue.

Arthrodesis apparatus and method

A bone plate system is provided herein. The system may include a first and a second bone plate, which plates may be affixed to one or more bone portions and each other, so as to align and stabilize the bone and correct a bone fracture. A first bone plate is provided which includes both a bone contacting and a top surface, one of which corresponds to a primary plane. The first bone plate may be configured to engage a bone portion and a secondary plate. A secondary bone plate is provided, which plate is configured to engage the first plate. The secondary plate includes a bone contacting surface, which corresponds to one or more planes or an arc that are provided at an angle or substantially perpendicular to the primary plane. Methods of using such bone plating systems for the reduction, restoration and treatment of bone fractures are provided.

Bone plate system for bone restoration and methods of use thereof

A prosthetic wrist can replace a portion of an anatomical wrist. A bone replacing portion can be provided that also includes an augment member to assist in fixation of the bone portion or the prosthesis to the bone. The various prosthesis embodiments can allow for a hemi- or total, or revision wrist arthroplasty. Modular portions can allow for intraopertative customization.
