A method for stiffening a skin panel of a heat shield assembly comprises steps of forming a blank into a stiffener, which includes a base portion and a bead portion that protrudes from the base portion, and connects the base portion to the skin panel.

A heat shield assembly including a skin panel and a stiffener including a base portion and a bead portion protruding from the base portion, wherein the base portion is connected to the skin panel to define a bead volume between the bead portion and the skin panel.

Presently disclosed sliding joint kits, sliding joints, and systems including the same may be configured to join a first panel and a second panel together such that at least a portion of the first panel and second panel are in sliding contact with one another, thereby allowing movement of one panel with respect to the other. In this manner, panels may be joined together while still allowing thermal expansion and resulting movement of one panel relative to the other. For example, presently disclosed sliding joints may be used to join panels of an aircraft heat shield together, which may result in reduced buckling and/or reduced joint stress of the panels of the heat shield. Related methods of assembling a sliding joint kit to join a first panel and a second panel are also disclosed.

Sliding joint kits, systems containing the same, and related methods

A thermal expansion includes a bottom portion extending between a support structure and a trailing edge, and the support structure is positioned proximate to a heat source. Furthermore, the thermal expansion joint includes a side portion. In some embodiments, the thermal expansion joint includes an overlapping portion coupled to the bottom portion and extending from a flange portion towards the side portion. Moreover, the overlapping portion overlays and is biased against the side portion to enable thermal expansion during heating by extending towards the flange portion and sliding along a top surface of the side portion.

A thermal insulation support includes a body including a first edge portion and a second edge portion extending generally along a longitudinal axis of the body. A first flange extending a first distance from the first edge portion of the body is coupled to a first wall. Composite heat shield

A method of superplastic forming of titanium packs and an associated assembly is provided. The titanium packs can include sheets having different granular structures so that the different sheets are adapted to superplastically form at different temperatures. One or more of the sheets can be formed at a temperature that is below the superplastic forming temperature of another sheet in the pack. In some cases, the occurrence of markoff can be reduced or eliminated.

Superplastic forming of titanium assemblies

A messaging system that isolates application programs from the underlying transport and routing mechanisms that are actually used to convey messages. This isolation is provided in part through the use of directory files. The directory files contain all of the specific details (e.g. conversion and routing parameters) necessary to interface with the transport and routing mechanisms. As the transport and routing details change (e.g. due to updated versions or new mechanisms) only the directory files need to be changed. The present invention further includes Message Processing Servers (MPSs) which provide additional messaging functionality such as message storage, tracing, reconciliation, statistical auditing, reformatting, content based routing and multicasting. As additional functionality is developed, this functionality can be flexibly incorporated into a new MPS.

Application independent messaging system

A hub-and-spoke communication arrangement is provided, in which the 'hub' includes a server computer system. The 'spokes' are other computers that act as message originators and/or destinations. All internal-to-external messages, and vice versa, are routed through the server computer system to reduce the number of proprietary connections needed between the internal and external entities. In addition, the server computer system provides protocol conversion, message payload conversion, encryption conversion, message broadcast, and/or message archival functionality, so that the &#x201c;spoke&#x201d; computers need not be concerned with providing such functionality on their own.

System and method for routing messages

The present invention is a hybrid engine exhaust heat shield assembly that includes a plurality of sections. The plurality of sections include one or more sections formed of titanium (or other high heat resistant material) by a casting process, and one or more sections formed of another heat resistant material produced in a manner other than a casting process. The plurality of sections are aerodynamically shaped for thermal protection of the aft pylon. The other heat resistant material is titanium (or other high heat resistant material) that is formed by a hot formed process, or by a super plastically-formed process. The one or more sections formed by the casting process includes heat (plume) deflector flanges.
