A wastewater treatment apparatus comprising a generally circular tank having a wall; a rotatable driven bridge having one end positioned above the center of the tank and an opposite end supported above the tank wall; a sludge moving member supported by the bridge and movable in response to movement of the opposite end of the bridge along the tank wall; and a drive apparatus for moving the opposite end of the bridge along the tank wall. The drive apparatus includes a rail extending along the top of the wall, a frame supporting an end of the bridge, an idler wheel supporting the frame for movement along the top of the wall, a drive wheel rotatably supported on the frame, means for urging the drive wheel into frictional engagement with the surface of the rail, and a drive motor operably connected to the drive wheel for driving the drive wheel along the rail. Preferably, the means for urging the drive wheel is adjustable for controlling the frictional engagement of the drive wheel with the surface of the rail. The apparatus preferably further includes heating apparatus for heating one of the rail and drive wheel to prevent accumulation of ice and snow, and, more preferably, the heating apparatus includes the rail being a hollow member for containing heated fluid. Also, the surface of the rail and the drive wheel preferably are curved to provide a large surface area for frictional engagement of the rail and the drive wheel.

Disclosed herein is a wastewater treatment facility including a stacked tank clarifier having a lower tank, and an upper tank above the lower tank, the upper tank having a bottom defining a ceiling of the lower tank, and the lower tank further having a floor. The wastewater treatment facility includes a mechanism for scraping the ceiling of the lower tank. The mechanism includes a driven endless chain loop in the lower tank, and a buoyant member carried by the chain loop.

A flight attachment is provided for a drive chain comprised of a plurality of overlapping links pivotally connected by pins so that stress loads transmitted through the chain by flight are transferred through the chain pivot pins and not through the chain side bars. The flight attachment comprises a pair of flight brackets, one located on each side of a link of the chain and connected to the chain in cantilever fashion by elongate, laterally extending pivot pins. The flight brackets are constructed and arranged to accept a collector flight securely mounted thereon.

A link assembly for a lightweight, non-metallic, conveyor or load transmission chain having significantly greater strength and other performance improvements compared to previous non-metallic chain links is disclosed. Each link assembly includes a pair of identical sidebars each comprised of high-strength filamentary material wound in an elongated loop configuration and fixed in a matrix of hardened resin and a connecting pin having a stiff reinforced composite core and a surrounding sleeve of low friction wear resistant material.

A polymeric split sprocket wheel is provided having two mating portions that, when joined, form a split line at the junction of those portions, two side faces, a toothed outer rim and a central axial bore, and which is designed to be mounted on a relatively immobile yet rotatable keyed shaft, being secured thereon by means of a tripartite apparatus comprised of a captive slotted keyway molded into the central axial bore of the wheel, a circular band clamp capable of exerting a uniform degree of force all around the axial hub, and a plurality of wedge dog assemblies which join the wheel together along the split line by means of a plurality of wedge dog clamps which straddle the split line, are inserted into tapered receptacles, and are fixed to the wheel by fastening means.

A microscreen support wheel and assembly is provided comprising a polymeric support wheel having a crowned tread surface, an annular stress relief groove cut into each of its vertically flat, substantially parallel side faces and an axial bore designed to rotate around an axis included in a support wheel assembly constructed and arranged to hold a pair of microscreen support wheels in a laterally adjacent relationship on a rigid microscreen frame at an angle whereby optimum drum support is achieved.

The open inlet end of a microscreen drum is defined by a circular track which is supported on rollers above the flow. The stationary wall supporting the rollers carries a flange-type flexible seal extending in a partial circle around the opening in the wall. The track carries a fully circular flange and a low-friction, slit tubing covers its axially projecting edge and is engaged by the flexible seal.
