A fastener applicator includes a body portion including a handle assembly, a cartridge assembly supported within the body portion, the cartridge assembly including implantable fasteners, a drive assembly supported within the body portion and operatively coupled to the cartridge assembly to engage the implantable fasteners, and an actuation assembly supported within the handle assembly and operatively coupled to the drive assembly to fire a distal-most implantable fastener upon actuation of the actuation assembly. At least one of the implantable fasteners includes a body including a tissue facing surface, a tissue penetrating portion extending from the body, and a capsule affixed to the tissue facing surface of the body, the capsule including radioactive material.

Implantable fasteners, applicators, and methods for brachytherapy

A cautery device includes an elongated handpiece extending axially from a proximal end to a distal end and a cautery tip extending coaxially with the handpiece from the distal end of the handpiece. The tip defines a channel extending coaxially with the handpiece along at least a portion of the length of the cautery tip from a proximal open end to a distal end. The device includes a gas supply connection extending from the proximal end of the handpiece for supplying gas to the cautery tip. The gas supply connection is fluidly coupled to the cautery tip. The device includes an electric supply connection extending from the proximal end of the handpiece for supplying electricity to the cautery tip. The electric supply connection is electrically coupled to the cautery tip. The gas supplied to the cautery tip is introduced to the channel at the proximal open end and exits to envelop the distal tip.

Cautery apparatus

A cautery device includes an elongated handpiece extending axially from a proximal end to a distal end and a cautery tip extending coaxially with the handpiece from the distal end of the handpiece. The tip defines a channel extending coaxially with the handpiece along an entire length of the cautery tip from a proximal open end to a distal open end. The device includes a gas supply connection extending from the proximal end of the handpiece for supplying gas to the cautery tip. The gas supply connection is fluidly coupled to the cautery tip. The device includes an electric supply connection extending from the proximal end of the handpiece for supplying electricity to the cautery tip. The electric supply connection is electrically coupled to the cautery tip. The gas supplied to the cautery tip is introduced to the channel at the proximal open end and exits the tip at the distal open end.

A head assembly for a pulverized coal nozzle includes removeable wear-resistant inserts having vanes. The vanes may be flat or curved to direct a stream of air and pulverized solid fuel particles from the inlet port toward the outlet port. The curved vanes curve in two dimensions to evenly distribute the stream of air and pulverized solid fuel away from the outer surfaces reducing wear and corrosion. The pipe elbow has a removable cover that allows for easy access. The vanes are attached to a wear-resistant replaceable liner thus allowing them to be easily removed and replaced. The wear-resistant liner may be made from several parts for ease of removal and replacement.

The vanesare angled relative to the inlet port and the outlet port of the pipe elbow to redirect a stream of air and pulverized solid fuel particles from the inlet porttoward the outlet port. The coal rope-breaking vaneis pivotable about an axis to adjust an angle of the vanes relative to a stream of air and pulverized solid fuel particles from the inlet port. An adjustment barmay connect to the vanesand extend outward through the pipe elbow to allow the vanesto be adjusted while the pulverized solid fuel particles flow through the head assembly. The pipe elbow may further include inspection portsand a removable cover. The vanes may be attached to the removable coverthus allowing them to be easily removed and replaced.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method of constructing a stationary wear-resistant stationary nozzleand/or nozzle linerfor solid fueled furnaces. A transition sectionis constructed from several flat pieces-several that may have identical starting shapes. This reduces manufacturing complexity and costs. All pieces-have a high-wear weld overlay on their inner surface. Corner pieces-are folded into a corner shape at an outlet edgeand rolled into a curved shape at an inlet edge. Horizontaland vertical piecesare only rolled at an inlet edge. The pieces have seam tabalong longitudinal edges that are welded together to construct a transition section. The transition sectionmay be used as a liner to reduce wear in an existing stationary nozzle or may be constructed to be connected to an inlet pieceto form a strong, wear-resistant coal nozzle
