A container () for releasing a chemical additive () in a fluid material selected from a lubricant or hydraulic fluid composition comprises a fluid material-impermeable casing () having a hollow interior and an additive composition () comprising at least one fluid material-soluble additive. The additive () is held within the container () by a least one fluid material-permeable element () provided at or near an opening () in the casing () and is effective to provide for release of additive(s) () into the fluid material. Methods of releasing additives () into fluid material are also provided.

Controlled release of additives in fluid systems

Methods of treating aqueous coolants in open circulating water cooling tower systems are provided. The methods including placing a controlled release additive composition in contact with an open circulating aqueous coolant in an open circulating water cooling tower system. The controlled release additive composition includes a core having at least one additive selected from corrosion inhibitors and scale inhibitors; and a coating, for example, a polymeric coating, substantially surrounding the core. The coating is substantially insoluble in the aqueous coolant, and is effective to slow the release of the at least one additive into the aqueous coolant.

Controlled release cooling additive composition

A coolant additive composition comprising a sustained release component and an additive component, the additive component is effective to provide at least one benefit to a coolant when released into the coolant, the sustained release component includes a polymeric material and is effective to reduce the rate of release of the additive component into the coolant relative to an identical composition without the sustained release component.

A container for releasing a chemical additive into a fuel composition comprises a fuel-impermeable casing having a hollow interior and an additive composition comprising at least one fuel soluble additive. The additive is held within the container by at least one fuel-permeable element provided at or near an opening in the casing and is effective to provide for release of additive(s) into the fuel composition. Methods of releasing additives into fuel compositions are also provided.

Controlled release additives in fuel systems

A controlled-release coolant additive composition for use in engine coolant systems comprising a core containing at least one coolant additive component and a polymeric coating encapsulating said core. The controlled released coolant additive composition slowly releases the coolant additive components to an engine coolant system, thereby delivering an effective concentration level of coolant additive components over an extended period. The controlled-release coolant additive composition maintains a minimum concentration level of active coolant additive components in the coolant system.
