A bone fixation plate comprises a main body formed of a first material and a support member formed of a second, different material and attached to the main body. The main body defines a first set of openings and the support member defines a second set of openings aligned with the first set of openings. For each opening of the first set of openings, a main body circumferential surface is disposed adjacent and continuous with a support member circumferential surface of the second set of openings to define an opening circumferential surface that bounds an opening of the first set of openings and an opening of the second set of openings.

The disclosure relates to medical devices and methods of manufacturing medical devices. An orthopedic screw includes an inner core member having a head having a first outer diameter, a tip having a second outer diameter, and a body extending between the head and the tip and having a third outer diameter that is less than the first outer diameter and the second outer diameter. An outer body member is disposed circumferentially around the body of the inner core member and defines an outer body member external thread. The tip of the inner core member can define an inner core member external thread that forms an interrupted thread with the outer body member external thread.

Various bone fixation wires and methods of making bone fixation wires are described. A bone fixation wire includes an elongate member defining an outer wall, a retaining member disposed on the outer wall between the elongate member first end and the geometric midpoint of the axial length of the elongate member on the lengthwise axis, and a stopping member disposed on the elongate member and contacting the retaining member. The elongate member comprises a first material and the stopping member comprises a second material that is different from the first material.

The invention includes a tendon stripper comprising: (a) a frame, including a cautery, that is adapted to separate surrounding tissue along a length of a tendon; (b) a handle mounted to the frame that is adapted to reposition the frame with respect to the tendon; and (c) an actuator in communication with the cautery and operative to activate the cautery, where activation of the cautery is adapted to sever the tendon. The invention also includes a method of stripping a tendon comprising: (a) exposing a tendon; (b) aligning a tendon stripper guide with respect to a first location to the tendon; (c) repositioning the tendon stripper guide along the tendon from the first location of the tendon to a second location of the tendon, where the act of repositioning of the tendon stripper guide is operative to separate surrounding tissue from the tendon between the first location and the second location; (d) activating a cautery to sever the tendon approximate the second location; and (e) cutting the tendon at a location other than the second location to provide a tendon segment.
