A multi-purpose exercise device has first and second hemispherical bodies each having a planar, circular face and a hemispherical dome extending from the face, and having a bore extending through the body. A rod is configured to be received within the bore of each body and the bodies have a configuration forming a spherical assembly wherein the rod extends through the bore of each body forming an axle. Handles connect to the rod on opposing sides of the spherical assembly, and are operable to receive a substantial downward force thereon. The handles prevent axial movement of each body relative to the rod. The spherical assembly is operable to roll on a floor surface with a substantial downward force applied to the handles. The bodies have a disassembled configuration, wherein the rod is removed from the assembly.

Multi-purpose exercise device

Various techniques and hardware are described for retrieving information in a processing system. In one embodiment, a method is provided for retrieving information in a processing system that includes a central processing unit and a service processor. Here, the service processor retrieves central processing unit information from the central processing unit and resets the processing system after the retrieval of the central processing unit information.

A processing system includes control circuitry to control the processing system, a remote management module to enable remote management of the processing system via a network, and an agent to operate as an intermediary between the remote management module and the control circuitry. A storage system includes a host computer coupled to a device to transfer a DMA descriptor between the host and the device. An integrity manager manages the integrity of the DMA descriptor between the host computer and the device. The integrity manager embeds a host-side DMA descriptor integrity value in the DMA descriptor and the device transfers the DMA descriptor to a device memory. The device generates a device-side DMA descriptor integrity value and compares it to the host-side DMA descriptor integrity value to determine if the descriptor is corrupted.

Preserving data integrity of DMA descriptors

Provided is a method and system for protecting data transactions transmitted on an integrated circuit bus. Specifically, by transmitting data along with the complement of the data from one component to another component that are connected by the integrated circuit bus, the data and complemented data can be compared for errors. Exemplary errors include bit flips. Comparisons include logical operations, such as XOR, that determine if an error has occurred during the transmission of the data or complemented data on the integrated circuit bus.

Protecting data transactions on an integrated circuit bus

A technique for partially offloading, from a main cache in a storage server, the storage of cache tags for data blocks in a victim cache of the storage server, is described. The technique includes storing, in the main cache, a first subset of the cache tag information for each of the data blocks, and storing, in a victim cache of the storage server, a second subset of the cache tag information for each of the data blocks. This technique avoids the need to store the second subset of the cache tag information in the main cache.

A system is provided including a host processing system and a remote management module coupled to it. The host processing system includes a boot storage device storing a plurality of boot images to allow the remote management module to remotely select a boot image from the plurality of boot images and to remotely cause the host processing system to boot utilizing the selected boot image.

The present invention is an apparatus for testing a power supply. A power supply testing apparatus may include a remote load which may sink an adjustable amount of current with an adjustable slew rate and may test the response of the power supply to determine its operability with a dynamic load. Additionally, in an alternative embodiment of the invention, the testing apparatus may source an adjustable amount of current with an adjustable slew rate to the output of a power supply. In yet another embodiment of the invention, the testing apparatus may include an adjustable current sink and adjustable current source with an adjustable slew rate. The power supply testing apparatus of the present invention may be implemented with standard circuit components on a circuit board and thus provide a small form factor. Additionally, due to the small form factor and low weight implementation, the power supply testing apparatus may utilize reduced length test wires which reduce the inductance in the test wires and increases the apparatus' slew rate for more effective testing.

The present invention is a method and system for indicating field replaceable unit status and configuration. A visible alert may be mounted on a card, in proximity to a location for a field replaceable unit. The visible alert may indicate a failed replaceable unit or a location for installation of a new replaceable unit. Supplemental power may be available on the card whereby a visible alert may be operable when an appliance, which contains the field replaceable unit, is powered down or when the card has been removed from the appliance. Additionally, an appliance in accordance with the present invention may include cards with visible alerts associated with field replaceable units. The visible alerts may be visible to an administrator without opening the chassis of the appliance.
