An assembly includes an enclosure including first and second regions spaced apart along a first direction, and a plurality of spaced apart acoustic baffles arranged along a second direction different from the first direction and disposed in the enclosure between the first and second regions. The plurality of spaced apart acoustic baffles includes adjacent first and second acoustic baffles. Each of the first and second acoustic baffles include an acoustically absorptive layer disposed on a sheet having a specific airflow resistance greater than 200 MKS Rayl. The first and second acoustic baffles define a channel therebetween. At least a portion of the channel extends along a longitudinal direction making an oblique angle with the first direction.

Articles comprising a substrate having a first major surface; an electrical conductor pattern on the first major surface of the substrate, the electrical conductor pattern comprising a plurality of separated pairs of separated first and second electrically conductive metallic traces. Optionally the articles further comprise a first electrically conductive layer. Provided are conduits for air flow that are capable of reducing noise and related methods. The provided conduits include a first section that is tubular and substantially non-perforated and a second section with at least a portion having a multiplicity of microperforations that provide an average flow resistance of from 50 MKS Rayls to 8000 MKS Rayls therethrough. The second section is either (a) tubular and connected in series with the first section, with an outer surface of the second section being in fluid communication with an outer surface of the conduit, or (b) disposed within the first section.

Provided acoustic devices include an external housing defining an expansion chamber and a wall extending through and partitioning the expansion chamber into a central chamber and a peripheral chamber adjacent the central chamber, wherein an inlet and outlet communicate with the central chamber, and wherein the wall includes a plurality of apertures formed therethrough to allow air movement to and from the central and expansion chambers, the plurality of apertures sized to provide an average flow resistance ranging from 100 MKS Rayls to 5000 MKS Rayls. The acoustic devices advantageously show significant sound attenuation while streamlining air flow to reduce pressure drop across the expansion chamber.

Injection molding apparatus and method

Components that include catalyst layers used in membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), and methods of making such components are described. The catalyst layers yield more uniform current distributions across the active area of the MEA during operation. The catalyst layers may have a uniform catalyst activity profile of a less active catalyst to achieve more uniform current density over the MEA active area. The catalyst layers may have a variable activity profile, such as an activity profile with a varying slope, to compensate for the inherent nonlinearities of catalyst utilization during operation of an electrochemical fuel cell. Desired variable catalyst activity profiles may be achieved, for example, by varying the catalyst loading across the MEA from inlet to outlet ports or by varying the surface area of the catalyst loading or by varying the surface area of the catalyst support elements.

The tubular terminal for a cable, in particular a medium or high voltage cable, comprises a first connector having at least one terminal end for connecting to at least one mating second connector adapted to be connected to a cable and engaged with the first connector for making electrical contact therewith upon connection of the second connector to the at least one terminal end of the first connector. Furthermore, the tubular terminal comprises a shrinkable sleeve having a first tubular portion and a second tubular portion extending from the first tubular portion. The first tubular portion of the shrinkable sleeve is fixedly arranged around the first connector. The second tubular portion of the shrinkable sleeve is adapted to extend beyond the at least one terminal end of the first connector for covering a mating second connector and cable attached thereto when the second connector is connected to the at least one terminal end of the first connector.

A fuel cell assembly includes first and second compression members. Two or more membrane electrode assembly (MEA) stacks are disposed between the compression members, each MEA stack having a positive and negative end. A first current collector is electrically coupled to a positive end of a first stack of the MEA stacks. A second current collector is electrically coupled to a negative end of a second stack of the MEA stacks. A current shunt is disposed between the compression members and electrically couples the MEA stacks.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags include compensating elements. The compensating elements enhance the operation of a compensated RFID tag, even when in close proximity to other RFID tags, whether the other tags are compensated or uncompensated. The compensating elements can include a closed loop of conductive material added to a RFID tag antenna. The conductive loop compensates the RFID tag performance when multiple RFID tags are in close proximity, keeping the frequency response of the assembled group of tags substantially centered near the operating frequency of the RFID system.

A fuel cell stack is provided comprising fuel cell modules least compression plates; and at least one plurality of mechanical linkages connecting a pair of compression plates located on either side of at least one fuel cell module, which may be engaged to maintain a predetermined gap distance between the pair of compression plates. The present invention additionally provides a fuel cell stack comprising: fuel cell modules stacked alternately with compression plates; mechanical linkages connecting a first pair of compression plates directly adjacent to a first fuel cell module; mechanical linkages connecting a second pair of compression plates directly adjacent to a second fuel cell module; where a) the first and second fuel cell modules may be maintained under compression, and b) the compression on each fuel cell module may be adjusted essentially independently of the compression on the other.
