The invention relates to a magnetic stirrer () having a stirrer drive (), a heating plate () serving as a surface on which a stirring vessel () is positioned, and a stirring rod () which can be introduced into the stirring vessel (), can be or is driven by the stirrer drive () and comprises a magnet (), the stirring rod () and/or the magnet () having and/or containing at least one SAW sensor () (surface acoustic wave sensor).

A temperature measuring device () with a thermometer () has a plurality of temperature sensors () on one side (), which function on an electrical basis. The thermometer () is immersed in a container or beaker () set up in a usage position on a heating plate () of a magnetic stirrer () and in a medium () present therein. The plurality of temperature sensors () are arranged spaced apart from one other vertically on the temperature measuring device (), and are immersed in the medium () at different heights in the usage position. It is therefore possible firstly to recognize a temperature stratification inside the medium (), and secondly, to detect level changes of the medium () in the interior of the container ().

A stirring apparatus (1), with a stirring tool and a measurement apparatus (2) for the measurement of torque that is introduced during stirring into the medium that is to be stirred, is mounted on bearings on its holding device (4) in such a way that it can rotate or pivot around the axis of rotation of the stirring tool, and is supported against the direction of rotation of the stirring tool. The measurement of the torque is carried out by means of a measurement value sensor, which records the reaction force of this support directly or indirectly. A measurement value sensor that is fixed in position can be used for the measurement of the torque, and the measurement of the torque requires only a single pivot bearing (11).
