The subject invention provides a gasket for sealing multiple fluids and a method of forming the gasket. The gasket includes a carrier, a first elastomeric material, and a second elastomeric material different than the first elastomeric material. The first and second elastomeric materials are disposed in contact with the carrier in a flowable state such that the first and the second materials flow together to form a third elastomeric material comprising a mixture of the first and second elastomeric materials. The first and second elastomeric materials include cure systems that are compatible to ensure sufficient bonding within the third elastomeric material. Adhesive materials that are compatible with each of the first, second, and third elastomeric materials and the carrier are used to bond the elastomeric materials to the carrier.

Gasket for sealing multiple fluids

A static gasket has a gasket core with opposite surfaces with at least one fluid conveying opening passing through the surfaces. A layer of elastomeric sealing material is applied to at least one of the opposite surfaces to provide a plurality of walled-off regions each completely bounded by a peripheral wall of at least partially varying height extending outwardly from the respective gasket core surface. The layer includes at least first and second sealing threads of the sealing material extending outwardly from the respective surface of the gasket core with the sealing threads extending continuously about the fluid opening in spaced relation to one another, and a plurality of bridge threads extending continuously between and intersecting the first and second sealing threads.

Static gasket

A static gasket () for use in sealing a clamped joint, such as an intake manifold () for an internal combustion V engine (). The gasket () includes a metal corehaving an embossment () formed therein. A layer of elastomeric sealing material () is applied to at least the embossment () on both sides of the core (). A crown bead () is formed along the convex crest portion () of the embossment (), whereas a pair of flanking beads () extend along either side of the embossment () adjacent its concave side. The gasket () is particularly adapted for sealing joints having inconsistently misaligned gaps at the sealing interface.

Process for the creation of a seal on a component, in which on one surface of the component which may be pre-treated, a sealant material is applied using screen printing, and by means of a tool at a specific temperature, the geometry of the finished seal is imprinted into the sealant material.
