A steering column for a steer-by-wire steering system may include a steering shaft that can be connected to a steering wheel. The steering shaft is rotatably mounted about a longitudinal axis in a casing unit. A feedback actuator may be operatively coupled to the steering shaft. The casing unit may have a second length in a direction of the longitudinal axis, and the steering shaft may project into the casing unit by a first length. Consequently, installation space volume and weight are saved, particularly where the first length is less than the second length. In some cases, the first length is less than or equal to half of the second length.

Steering column and steer-by-wire steering system

A motor-adjustable steering column may include a support unit that is connectable to a vehicle body and holds an adjustment unit. The adjustment unit may include a steering spindle mounted in a casing unit rotatably about a longitudinal axis. The casing unit may include an outer casing tube that receives an inner casing tube in an axially displaceable, telescopic fashion. An adjustment drive may be connected to the inner and outer casing tubes. The inner casing tube can be retracted and deployed axially relative to the outer casing tube. An intermediate casing tube may be disposed coaxially between the inner and outer casing tubes so as to be axially displaceable in telescopic fashion relative to the inner and outer casing tubes. The intermediate casing tube can be axially retracted and deployed relative to the inner and outer casing tubes by the adjustment drive.

Motor-adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle

A steering column may comprise an adjusting unit that holds a steering spindle rotatably mounted about a longitudinal axis, a holding unit that receives the adjusting unit, a clamping device that locks the adjusting unit relative to the holding unit in a fixing position and permits adjustment in an unlocked position, and an energy absorption element attached to the adjusting unit and extending through an opening of a wedging housing parallel to the longitudinal axis. The energy absorption element is longitudinally movable in the opening in the unlocked position and lockable within the opening in the fixing position. The opening may have a wedging section with inner wall regions that converge longitudinally. A wedging element is movable into the wedging section and disposed between the energy absorption element and the inner wall regions. The wedging element and the energy absorption element, measured transversely to the longitudinal direction, may be larger than a shortest cross section of the wedging section.

Steering column for a motor vehicle

The invention relates to a steering column for a motor vehicle comprising a steering shaft which is mounted in a steering shaft mounting unit and is rotatable about a longitudinal axis, and comprising a support unit for connecting the steering shaft mounting unit to the body of the motor vehicle. At least one component of the steering column is composed at least partially of a fiber-reinforced composite material and the component lies in the flux of force between the steering column and the body. The component is provided with at least one pultrusion layer which has multiple fibers produced by pultrusion as reinforcing fibers, said fibers being oriented parallel to one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis.

Steering column produced from fibre-composite and on the basis of pultrusion, braiding and/or winding technology

Fiber composite components can be formed by winding fibers along tracks of a winding spool of a winding core. The fibers may either be pre-coated with a curable resin, or the curable resin may be applied to the fibers after the fibers are wound along the tracks of the winding spool of the winding core. The curable resin may also and/or alternatively be applied to a mold that receives the fibers wound about the winding spool. The curable resin may then be cured, after which the winding spool and the winding core may be removed in order to release the fiber composite component. In some cases, the winding spool may be removed from the fiber composite component by moving the winding spool inwardly towards an inside of the winding core.

Component made of a fiber composite material and process for producing same

A steering-column assembly for a motor vehicle may include a steering spindle rotatably mounted in a steering-column tube, which steering-column tube is mounted in a console that connects the steering-column directly or indirectly to a body of the motor vehicle. At least one of the components of the steering-column, such as the console, for example, may include a fiber composite component that can be formed by winding fibers along tracks of a winding spool of a winding core, introducing a curable resin into the fibers or a mold to be used with the wound fibers, curing the wound fibers, and removing the winding spool and the winding core so as to release the fiber composite component. The fiber composite component may then be fitted into the steering column assembly.

Steering columns for a motor vehicle and methods for manufacturing same

The invention relates to a steering column for a motor vehicle, comprising a steering spindle mounted rotatably in a steering spindle bearing unit, and comprising a guide bracket for connecting the steering spindle bearing unit to a body of the motor vehicle, wherein at least one component of the steering column is formed at least in part from a fiber-reinforced composite material, wherein a component has a thin-walled braided core which corresponds to the shape of the subsequent component, is formed from a thermoplastic material, and is braided with a fiber material, wherein the braided core is produced in an injection molding method and contains functional elements molded therein.

A fixing device has at least one clamping device and at least one locking element which can be acted upon by the clamping device, and at least one counter locking element. In a closed position of the clamping device, the locking element and the counter locking element are arranged in an engagement position, and the fixing device has at least one elastic resetting element for resetting the locking element in an open position of the clamping device. The fixing device has at least one engagement element which, in the closed position of the clamping device, is in engagement by preferably plastic deformation of at least one surface of the locking element and/or of the counter locking element in a form-fitting manner with the surface.

Fixing device for fixing a steering spindle bearing unit

The invention relates to a steering column for a motor vehicle with a steering spindle pivotably supported by a jacket unit and a securement unit rigidly securable on the motor vehicle and bearing the jacket unit. The securement unit includes a base section, at least one side jaw extending next to the jacket unit, and at least first and second securement plates with bolt openings for the securement of the securement unit on the motor vehicle by means of securement bolts. The first and second securement plates are each inclined with respect to the at least one side jaw by an angle in the range between 15&#xb0; and 75&#xb0;, and preferably between 30&#xb0; and 60&#xb0;.
