A method for regenerating an exhaust aftertreatment system, in particular a particulate filter of an internal combustion engine, situated in a vehicle, having regeneration cycles controlled by a control device. An optimized regeneration of the exhaust aftertreatment system is achieved by supplying information relating to the travel route to the control device and controlling the regeneration cycles, taking the information into consideration.

Method for regenerating an exhaust aftertreatment system

Devices and methods for the production of ammonia as a reducing agent for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of a combustion source, especially of an internal combustion engine. The ammonia is admixed with the exhaust gas in the direction of flow in front of a SCR-catalytic converter. In so doing, nitrogen oxide is produced in a nitrogen oxide production unit separated from the combustion source and its exhaust gas duct and is stored in at least one storage catalytic converter or a nitrogen oxide storage and a subsequently connected catalytic converter. Furthermore, hydrogen and/or a hydrogen-carbon monoxide-mixture is produced in a hydrogen production unit separated from the combustion source and its exhaust gas duct and delivered to a storage catalytic converter. Hydrogen and the stored nitrogen oxide are converted catalytically to ammonia in the storage catalytic converter or in the catalytic converter.

An exhaust elbow ( ) is provided with a single exhaust outlet ( ) with an outlet mounting flange ( ) and at least two exhaust inlets ( ) with an inlet mounting flange ( ) for fastening on the engine block of a motor vehicle. The exhaust guiding of the exhaust elbow ( ) between the inlet mounting flange ( ) and the outlet mounting flange ( ) is formed by a single-walled sheet metal hood ( ) forming a collection line. The sheet metal hood ( ) surrounds all exhaust inlets ( ) together, without individual pipes being formed. Such a simple sheet metal elbow can be manufactured at a low cost and with low weight and nevertheless has sufficient ability to function, is dimensionally stable and can be used in a versatile manner.
