A side bearing assembly for railway rolling stock having an elastomeric body, containing granular solid substance, disposed between the body bolster and the truck bolster or side frame. The assembly is an inexpensive yet durable means for accomplishing increased support of static and dynamic loads without inhibiting the body bolster movement in a horizontal plane relative to its trucks.

Shiftable particle spheroidal side bearing

An auto railway car having a plurality of decks is provided with a pair of folding door structures for closing the loading end of the car. The doors are hinged on spherical bearing structures and include locking mechanisms for locking the doors in open or closed positions.

Railway car end doors

A railway car for carrying autos includes a loading end having lower folding and an upper swinging door which is actuated from the lower platform of the car. The upper and lower doors are opened and closed independently to provide a complete closure for loading end.

Auto carrier railway car

An operating mechanism for a hinged deck portion of a vehicle-carrying auto-rack railway car utilizing a first-class lever to counterbalance the deck end portion. A spring load is provided by a Belleville spring pack of novel, compact construction which has a substantially constant spring-force versus deflection curve such that manual manipulation of the hinged deck by operating personnel is facilitated during loading and unloading of the auto-rack car.
