Polyurethane floor covering products are formed from a web layer containing at least 30% by weight fibers. A cooled polyurethane foam formulation which includes at least one polyisocyanate, water and at least one polyol having an equivalent weight of at least 500 is applied to the web layer. The wetted web layer is then compressed to mechanically wet out the fibers, gauged and heated to cure the foam formulation.

Method for making polyurethane foam floor covering products with postconsumer carpet fibers

Polyurethane cushions are formed on the surface of a textile such as carpet. The polyurethane is made in the reaction of a polyurethane forming composition that is frothed, and contains water as a blowing agent. The polyurethane forming composition is cured between the substrate and a containment layer, both of which prevent the blowing gasses from escaping during the curing process. The process allows low density attached cushions to be formed controllably.

The present disclosure sets forth improvements in a cleaning procedure to clean electrodes exposed to hypochlorite in a measuring device. Typical measuring electrodes are made of platinum, gold, silver or other conductive metals. The electrode is dipped in a strong acid bath, a sacrificial oxide coated titanium electrode is placed in the bath and a DC power source is connected between the metal electrode requiring protection and the sacrificial electrode to create current flow until the surface has been treated. Current flow accomplishes the treatment after which the electrode can be removed and used in measuring hypochlorite concentration.
