Disclosed is the use a polyalkoxylated amino alcohol to solubilize active compounds that are poorly soluble in water, including particularly agricultural actives or pharmaceutical actives. Also disclosed are compositions comprising such actives, water and the polyalkoxylated aminoalcohol.

Provided are compositions and methods that are useful for personal care compositions. The compositions comprise (a) a cationic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from (i) 30 to 80 weight % of cationic monomers, (ii) 10 to 65 weight % of (meth)acrylamide monomers, and (iii) 0 to 30 weight % of polar non-ionic derivatives of acrylic monomers, and (b) at least one cosmetically acceptable surfactant, rheology modifier, or cosmetic active. Also provided are methods of treating hair with such compositions.

Hair care compositions containing cationic polymers

Provided are compositions and methods that are useful for personal care compositions. The compositions comprise (a) a cationic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from (i) 30 to 80 weight % of cationic monomers, (ii) 10 to 65 weight % of (meth)acrylamide monomers, and (iii) 0 to 30 weight % of polar non-ionic derivatives of acrylic monomers, and (b) silicone. Also provided are methods of treating hair with such compositions.

The present invention is a composition comprising a) a stable aqueous dispersion of polymer particles having one or more structural units of i) a polyurea macromer; and ii) an acrylate, a methacrylate, a vinyl ester, or a styrene monomer, or a combination thereof; and/or b) an aqueous mixture of a i) polyurea macromer polymer particles; and b) acrylate, methacrylate, vinyl ester, or styrenic polymer particles, or a combination thereof, wherein the polyurea macromer is characterized by the following formula I: where A, A, R, R, and Rare as defined herein. Compositions prepared using the compound of the present invention can be used to form coatings with excellent balance of low temperature film formation, hardness, and flexibility.

Prepare a polymeric foam article having a thermoplastic polymer matrix defining multiple cells therein, wherein the polymeric foam article has the following characteristics: (a) the thermoplastic polymer matrix contains dispersed within it nano-sized nucleating additive particles that have at least two orthogonal dimensions that are less than 30 nanometers in length; (b) possesses at least one of the following two characteristics: (i) has an effective nucleation site density of at least 3&#xd7;10sites per cubic centimeter of pre-foamed material; and (ii) has an average cell size of 300 nanometers or less; and (c) has a porosity percentage of more than 50 percent by rapidly expanding at a foaming temperature a foamable polymer composition containing the nucleating additive and a blowing agent containing at least one of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and argon.

The present invention relates to the use of polyalkoxylated alcohols of the formula R&#x2014;O-(AO)&#x2014;H, wherein R is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group having 7 to 25 carbon atoms, (AO) is a polyoxyalkylene moiety of the composition (BO)m(EO)n(DO)r with random or blockwise arrangement of the constituting oxyalkylene units, wherein m, n and r represent the average number of oxybutylene (BO) units, oxyethylene (EO) units and oxyalkylene units derived from at least one epoxide selected from styrene oxide and alkylene oxides having from 5 to 10 carbon atoms (DO) per molecule of the polyalkoxylated alcohol, respectively, m being a number greater than or equal to 1, n being a number greater than or equal to 1 and r being a number in the range from 0 to 50 under the proviso that (m+n+r) is less than or equal to 200 and the ratio n/(m+r) is in the range of 1 to 20, as excipients in pharmaceutical compositions. Said polyalkoxylated alcohols enable very effective solubilization of poorly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients in aqueous media. Solid or semi-solid pharmaceutical compositions comprising one or more such polyalkoxylated alcohol combined with at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient are further long term stable under typical storage conditions and can be readily provided in various dosage forms such as tablets and filled capsules.

A polymeric foam has a thermoplastic polymer matrix defining multiple cells, the foam characterized by: (a) the polymer matrix having greater than 50 weight-percent copolymer containing at least two different monomers at least one of which is a methacrylate monomer, each monomer having a solubility parameter lower than 20 (megaPascals)and a chemical composition where twice the mass fraction of oxygen plus the mass fraction of nitrogen, fluorine and silicon is greater than 0.2; wherein the monomers comprise at least 90 weight-percent of all monomers in the copolymer; (b) at least one of the following: (i) a nucleation site density of at least 3&#xd7;10effective nucleation sites per cubic centimeter of foamable polymer composition; (ii) an average cell size of 300 nanometer or less; (c) a porosity percentage greater than 30%; (d) an absence of nano-sized nucleating additive; and (e) a thickness of at least one millimeter.

Nanoporous polymeric foam having high cell density without nanofiller

The present disclosure relates to pesticide compositions consisting of meso-sized particles in combination with certain adjuvants such as built-in adjuvants which are added directly to the formulation or to an aqueous dilution of the formulation such as tank-mix adjuvants, to provide enhanced effectiveness for the control of agricultural pests. Mesoparticle compositions containing such adjuvants have been found to provide improved effectiveness compared to mesoparticle compositions not containing such adjuvants or to conventional formulations.

Pesticide compositions of meso-sized particles with enhanced activity

Disclosed herein are mesocapsules that include agriculturally active ingredients. These mesocapsules are comprised of a polyurea shell and include hydrophilic groups on their surfaces and have a volume-average diameter of about 500 nm or less and some of them have a volume-average diameter on the order of about 300 nm or less. These mesocapsules are suited for delivering active ingredients that are not very soluble in water. Methods for making these mesocapsules include interfacial polycondensation reactions carried out in the presence of surfactants and other methods in which all or most of the surfactant is replaced by adding amino acids to the aqueous phase of the interfacial reaction mixture before forming the final emulsion.

Meso-sized capsules useful for the delivery of agricultural chemicals

The present invention relates to a composition which comprises a stable aqueous dispersion of discrete polymer particles and a water-soluble dispersant adsorbed onto the surfaces of pigment particles, wherein the polymer particles comprise structural units of a sulfonic acid monomer or a salt thereof. Also, provided is a method for making a chemical mechanical polishing composition of the present invention and a method for chemical mechanical polishing of a substrate, comprising: providing a substrate, wherein the substrate is a semiconductor wafer having copper interconnects; providing a chemical mechanical polishing composition of the present invention; providing a chemical mechanical polishing pad; creating dynamic contact at an interface between the chemical mechanical polishing pad and the substrate with a down force of 0.69 to 34.5 kPa; and, dispensing the chemical mechanical polishing composition onto the chemical mechanical polishing pad at or near the interface between the chemical mechanical polishing pad and the substrate; wherein the chemical mechanical polishing composition exhibits a pH adjusted to a pH of 2 to 6 through the addition of at least one of phosphoric acid, magnesium hydroxide and lithium hydroxide.
