A winding station of a textile machine for producing cross-wound bobbins includes a base unit, a cover unit, and a bobbin holder configured to hold the cross-wound bobbin. A traversing device is configured to lay a thread in a crosswise manner on the cross-wound bobbin. A thread finding device is configured to find a thread end on the cross-wound bobbin. The base unit at least partially covers the cover unit, and the cover unit is movable with respect to the base unit between a working position for laying the thread and seeking the thread end and a cleaning position for cleaning the winding station. At least portions of the thread finding device are configured on the cover unit. A method is also provided for operating the winding station.

A traversing unit for traversing a yarn with respect to a pair of delivery rollers of a workstation of a textile machine includes a yarn-guiding unit, a single traversing drive configured with the yarn-guiding unit, and a conversion element configured with the single traversing drive such a rotational movement (&#x3c9;) of the single traversing drive is converted into a linear, reciprocating movement of the yarn-guiding unit. The single traversing drive is a rotating motor. A sensor is disposed to detect at least a middle position of the yarn-guiding unit.

A method for automatically piecing a thread at a workstation of a textile machine, includes seeking an end of the thread on a surface of a bobbin with a suction nozzle and unwinding the thread from the bobbin counter to a regular draw-off direction of the thread and sucking the thread into the suction nozzle. The bobbin is driven in a direction of reverse rotation with a drive. A thread loop is draw-opened in the thread and moved towards a piecing unit via movement of a feeder unit. The bobbin is driven in the direction of reverse rotation during the drawing-open of the thread loop such that the thread is unwound from the bobbin. A speed of reverse rotation of the bobbin is coordinated with movement of the feeder unit.

A yarn return unit for returning a yarn into a delivery unit of a textile machine during a piecing process includes a yarn-guiding section configured to guide and position the yarn with respect to the delivery unit. A blowing unit generates an air flow for returning the yarn from the yarn-guiding section into the delivery unit, the blowing unit defining a flow direction of the air flow. The yarn-guiding section includes an open contour that defines an insertion area through which the yarn is inserted into the yarn-guiding section transversely to the flow direction of the air flow.

A textile machine and associated operational method are provided, wherein the textile machine has a plurality of workstations for (a) delivering a thread to a bobbin, (b) laying the thread on the bobbin, (c) winding the thread on the bobbin, and (d) finding a thread end wound on the bobbin with a suction nozzle. The thread is run through the suction nozzle during delivery to the bobbin such that the thread enters an inlet mouth in the suction nozzle and exits the suction nozzle through an extraction mouth. Starting from a thread delivery device at the workstation, the thread is run freely until the thread enters the inlet mouth of the suction nozzle directly in front of the bobbin. For finding of the thread end wound on the bobbin, the thread end is sucked into the suction nozzle through the extraction mouth.

A system and associated operational method are provided to extract a thread by suction from a bobbin and for re-attachment of a thread end of the thread to a new thread. The thread is extracted from the bobbin by sucking the thread in against its spooling direction on the bobbin through a suction nozzle and into an extraction port of an extraction system. A loop is subsequently formed in the thread, and the thread is separated in the area of the loop. One thread end of the separated thread is discharged into an extraction port, and the other thread end coming from the bobbin is prepared for re-attachment to a new thread. Upon being extracted by suction into the extraction system, the thread is guided through an eyelet located in a run of the thread to the extraction port and the eyelet, together with the thread, is moved out of the run of the thread to the extraction port such that the thread forms the loop between the bobbin, the eyelet, and the extraction port.

A method is provided for operating a work station of a spinning or winding machine, wherein the work station includes a spinning device for producing a thread or a cop for delivering a thread, and a winding device for producing a bobbin on a tub. The winding device includes a swivel-mounted bobbin holder with a bobbin plate for receiving the tube and for catching the thread, a powered winding roller for rotating the tube or a bobbin, and a thread traversing device. A first suction nozzle is directed towards a circumference of a bobbin on the bobbin holder, and a second suction nozzle is arranged on the bobbin plate turned away from the bobbin and spaced from and directed counter to the first suction nozzle. To attaching a thread to an empty tube placed on the bobbin holder, the thread is arranged in the first and second suction nozzles so that the thread is tensed by negative pressure at least in the second suction nozzle. Subsequently, the tensed thread is captured between the first and second suction nozzles with a catching device in order to catch the thread for subsequent winding onto the empty tube.
