A drip pan apparatus for a helicopter includes a frame and a drip pan. The frame is secured to a skirt on the airframe of the helicopter. The apparatus includes a drip pan for cooperation with a frame to cover an access opening to a transmission. The drip pan includes a substantially planar member of a fiber-reinforced composite and has a seal surface that is configured to cooperate with a seal surface of the frame. A seal member may be disposed between the substantially planar member and the frame to form a fluid-tight seal. The fiber-reinforced composite may be a carbon fiber-reinforced composite. A method of making the drip pan apparatus includes placing a plurality of sheets of an uncured fiber-reinforced composite material on one another to form an uncured stack. The uncured stack is then cured. A frame and a drip pan may be cut from the cured stack.

Helicopter drip pan apparatus and method of making and using such an apparatus

A drip pan apparatus for use in a helicopter includes a drip pan and a frame having a plurality of frame sides and a plurality of frame corners that define an inwardly-facing peripheral surface. A first frame angle is formed between a first inwardly-facing surface and a second inwardly-facing surface. The first frame angle is an acute angle. The drip pan has an outwardly-facing peripheral surface. The outwardly-facing peripheral surface defines a plurality of sides, including a first side and a second side, to cooperate with the inwardly-facing peripheral surface of the frame. A first angle is formed between the first side and the second side. The first angle is an acute angle. A method of installing a drip pan includes modifying at least a portion of a skirt on the helicopter and then securing the frame to one or both of the modified skirt and the helicopter structure.

A drip pan apparatus for a 'M' model BLACK HAWK&#xae; helicopter and the like includes an expanded corner structure for accommodating an access port also positioned further outwardly in the corner than in prior drip pan apparatuses, facilitating filter viewing while retaining peripheral o-ring seal. An expanded corner of the airframe skirt is accommodated by the expanded corresponding corner of a frame, which also defines a small radius internal curve. The removable pan has a small radius curve cooperating with the small radius curve of the frame and is sealed thereto by the peripheral o-ring seal sealing the entire pan to the frame. Physical access to the filter is enhanced.

Promising groups of environmetally-safe insecticides consist of analogues of insect hormones, such as juvenile hormone, and antagonists of such hormones. The traditional bioassay approach for screening potential juvenile hormone analogs and antagonists is slow, expensive and inefficient. A recombinant bHLH-PAS-juvenile hormone receptor, isolated from the methoprene-tolerant locus on, provides the basis of in vitro and in vivo binding assays that can be used to discover new juvenile hormone-type targeted insecticides. Moreover, the nucleotide sequence of thebHLH-PAS/JHR polypeptide provides tools for isolating juvenile hormone receptor genes from other insect species.

A helicopter drip pan apparatus for covering and sealing a structural opening in a helicopter. The drip pan apparatus includes a frame member adapted to mount to the structural opening of the helicopter. The frame member has an inwardly-facing peripheral surface extending around the frame member. The frame member and thus the surface have at least one linear portion. A drip pan is selectively affixed to the frame member. The drip pan includes an outwardly-facing peripheral groove which extends around the outside edge of the drip pan. Like the surface of the frame member, the groove has at least one linear portion. The perimeter of the drip pan conforms to the surface of the frame member. A seal member is disposed in the groove of the drip pan to sealingly engaging the surface of the frame member against fluid leakage therethrough.

A drip pan rests upon and conforms to the inner lip of the frame of the cover plate. The cover plate attaches to an adapter plate which is then affixed to the helicopter structural opening. A treatment for an aircraft interior has a plurality of panels for assembly to the interior, including side and center ceiling panels, and sidewall panels. The panels control overhead liquids and water and divert them away from the interior. The panels have features that permit them to flex and slide in relation to each other while still retaining the ability to transmit liquids from the side ceiling panels outwardly to exterior surfaces of the sidewall panels and away from the interior. The center ceiling panel has features that block liquids thereon from moving outwardly toward the side ceiling panels, and features that transmit such liquids rearwardly and away from the aircraft interior.
