A connector for connecting a container with a fluid preparation device for preparing a fluid, in particular a container with a concentrate for the preparation of dialysis fluid, as well as the combination of the connector, the corresponding container and the fluid preparation device. In order to simplify the handling during both the manufacturing process of such containers and the connection of such containers to the fluid preparation devices, the connector connects a first and second fluid line of the container with a third and fourth fluid line of the fluid preparation device with two laterally spaced-apart mounting elements which each incorporate one of two orifices terminating the first and second fluid lines.

A self standing bag having two side wall sheets and a bottom sheet. To flatten the bag, the bottom sheet is sandwiched between the two side wall sheets and symmetrically folded along a line parallel to its bottom edge, separating the bag into a four-layer part and a two-layer part. In the two-layer part, the bag includes first sloped sealing lines extending between a first two points on the top edges of the side wall sheets and spaced from the vertical side wall edges by a first distance, to a second two points spaced from the vertical edges of the side wall sheets by a second distance less than the first distance. The four-layer part includes second sloped sealing lines extending between the second two points and a third two points on the bottom edges of the side wall sheets.

A container for use in dialysis, containing a certain amount of a salt concentrate in the form of a powder, granules or tablets or mixtures thereof, having an inlet for the water and an outlet that is connectable to a dialysis machine. Both the inlet and the outlet are situated on one side of the container, and each includes a filter therein to prevent any undissolved salt concentrate from leaving the container.

This invention relates to a container having at least one inlet and/or outlet and containing at least two different solids arranged in layers as well as the use of said container for preparing a dialysate. In particular, a flexible bag is described, having three layers of different solids, where the middle layer consists of a solid which is compatible with the two adjacent layers and thus forms a separating layer between the two other layers. The layers are secured in place during shipping by vacuum packing.

The invention also relates to a device for the extracorporeal blood treatment, comprising a device for determining the volume of distribution of a blood component in the body of a living organism.

The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of fiber bundles and an apparatus for the performance of the method. A continuous process routine and the reduction of fiber losses is permitted by a method with process steps including taking up and transportation of a fiber bundle strand using one or more feed elements, cutting of the fiber bundle strand into partial bundles of a suitable length, releasing the partial bundles from the feed elements, gripping of the partial bundles using one or more gripping elements and releasing the partial bundles from the gripping elements. The present invention further relates to an apparatus for the performance of the method.

A method and a device for determining the efficiency of a dialyzer of a dialysis machine during a dialysis treatment wherein the dialyzer is divided by a semipermeable membrane into a blood chamber and a dialysis fluid chamber and wherein the blood flows at a predetermined flow rate through the blood chamber and dialysis fluid flows at a predetermined flow rate through the dialysis fluid chamber. In use, the dialysance or clearance for a predetermined dialysis fluid flow rate and/or blood flow rate is measured, and then the dialysance or clearance for any dialysis fluid flow rate and blood flow rate is calculated.
