Embodiments disclosed herein include an antenna assembly that includes a dual antenna support and isolation enhancer coupled to a first antenna element for isolating the first antenna element relative to a collocated, vertically-polarized antenna element. The dual antenna support and isolation enhancer can include tabs to support the first antenna element and shield a coaxial cable feeding the first antenna element, a base electrically connected to a shield of the coaxial cable for shorting to ground induced current on the shield of the coaxial cable, and, in some embodiments, at least one of a plurality of loading pins that can form a short-circuited LC resonator that can effectively open-circuit a gap of a coplanar strip transmission line that routes to a feed connection point of the first antenna element when vertically-polarized radiation is incident on the antenna assembly.

Dual antenna support and isolation enhancer

A fabrication method of a dual-band antenna array. The dual-band antenna array may comprise a trace split, a first frequency branch, and a second frequency branch. The trace split may feed the first frequency branch and the second frequency branch. The first frequency branch may comprise a first frequency branch geometry that may cause a majority of a current of a signal fed into the trace split to feed the second frequency branch when the signal comprises a second frequency. The second frequency branch may comprise a second frequency branch geometry that may cause the majority of the current of the signal fed into the trace split to feed the first frequency branch when the signal comprises a first frequency.

Method of making a dual-band yagi-uda antenna array

A dual-band antenna with notched cross-polarization suppression can include a symmetrical feed tab, a short circuit leg electrically coupled to the symmetrical feed tab, and symmetrical arms electrically coupled to and extending from opposing sides of the short circuit leg. When a signal with a first frequency energizes the symmetrical feed tab, a combination of the symmetrical feed tab and the short circuit leg can form a first radiating section, but when a signal with a second frequency energizes the symmetrical feed tab, the symmetrical arms can form a second radiating section. The symmetrical feed tab and the symmetrical arms can be oriented such that symmetry of the symmetrical feed tab and the symmetrical arms can yield a cumulative cross-polarization distribution derived from radiation from surface currents on the symmetrical feed tab and the symmetrical arms that theoretically vanishes at a plurality of points in an azimuth plane.

Dual-band antenna with notched cross-polarization suppression

A wideband Kandoian loop antenna is provided. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna can be enhanced relative to antennas known in the art by capacitively coupling to radiating sections on the antenna, thereby ensuring efficient operation of the antenna over a wide frequency band. The antenna can include a highly symmetric arrangement that can yield a circular current distribution that resembles that of a small loop antenna driven by a constant current source. The circular current distribution can beget excellent radiation patterns, for example, when the antenna is integrated in a ceiling-mounted access point, and the circular current can radiate a strongly horizontally polarized electric field that decouples the antenna from nearby vertically polarized antenna elements, thereby allowing the antenna to be collocated with vertically polarized elements with little degradation to overall system level performance.

Broadband kandoian loop antenna

A robust, dual-band, omnidirectional antenna is provided. In some embodiments, the antenna can be deployed in a Wi-Fi access point and tuned to operate with high efficiency in a plurality of driving point environments, and in some embodiments, the antenna can be tuned to operate with high efficiency over an impedance bandwidth in excess of 80% with little change to the radiation patterns. The antenna can operate in a TMcircular patch mode in a low frequency band and in a wideband quarter wavelength monopole mode in a high frequency band, and both the TMcircular patch mode and the quarter wavelength monopole mode can radiate a strongly circulating magnetic field that can beget excellent omnidirectional radiation patterns and decouple the antenna from nearby horizontally-polarized antenna elements, thereby allowing the antenna to be collocated with horizontally-polarized elements with little degradation to overall system level performance.

Capacitively-coupled dual-band antenna

A dual-band antenna array may be provided. The dual-band antenna array may comprise a trace split, a first frequency branch, and a second frequency branch. The trace split may feed the first frequency branch and the second frequency branch. The first frequency branch may comprise a first frequency branch geometry that may cause a majority of a current of a signal fed into the trace split to feed the second frequency branch when the signal comprises a second frequency. The second frequency branch may comprise a second frequency branch geometry that may cause the majority of the current of the signal fed into the trace split to feed the first frequency branch when the signal comprises a first frequency.

Dual-band yagi-uda antenna array

The embodiments herein use polarization diversity between antennas where the antennas for one cell are, e.g., horizontally polarized and antennas for the other cell are vertically polarized. In one embodiment, the antennas for a macro cell are vertically polarized while micro cell antennas are horizontally polarized. In one example, the micro cell antennas are printed antennas that form a loop that is co-planar with the magnetic fields generated by the macro cell antennas when transmitting. Because the magnetic fields are co-planar (rather than orthogonal) to the current flowing through the loop in the micro cell antenna, the effect of the electromagnetic signals emitted by the macro cell antenna is reduced. This may permit dual radio network devices to have improved performance when operating simultaneously&#x2014;e.g., when the macro cell radio is transmitting and the micro cell radio is receiving at or near the same frequency band.

Horizontally-polarized antenna for microcell coverage having high isolation

Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to a dipole antenna having an hourglass shaped coupler. The antenna generally includes two conductive layers, each having a first portion and a second portion of conductive material. The first portion may be connected to a first trace in the first layer, and a width of the first portion flares out from a connection point to the first trace in a first direction. The second portion may be electrically isolated from the first trace and a width of the second portion flares out from a location closest to the first portion in a second direction. In certain embodiments, the second direction is opposite the first direction.

Hourglass-coupler for wide pattern-bandwidth sector

A microwave antenna assembly is printed on a substrate with a first face and an opposing second face. The assembly includes at least one antenna disposed on the front face of the substrate and a balun disposed on the rear face of the substrate. A first microstrip on the front face is coupled to the antenna(s). A second microstrip on the front face is coupled a feed line. A coplanar strip on the rear face is electrically coupled to the second microstrip and electromagnetically coupled to the first microstrip.

Dual-band printed omnidirectional antenna

In one embodiment, an apparatus is formed using a quarter wave (QW) patch element with a U-Slot, a ground plane, and a slotted shorting wall. A feed line runs through the ground plane and connects to the QW patch element. The slotted shorting wall connects the QW patch element to the ground plane. The QW patch element, slotted shorting wall, and ground plane are composed of a single contiguous folded material.

Disclosed in an example embodiment herein is a dual mode patch antenna designed to operate in the TM02 mode. The antenna comprising a circular patch antenna configured to operate at a first frequency, and a cylindrical matching element coupled to the circular patch antenna configured to operate at a second frequency. A feed surface is coupled to the cylindrical matching element.

Dual band antenna design

An antenna system is provided. The antenna system includes a ground plane, an antenna, a feed cable, a cable connector, and an antenna connector. The ground plane has a first ground side and a second ground side. The antenna operates on the first ground side of the ground plane. The feed cable has a center conductor that is configured to transmit signals to and receive signals from the antenna. The cable connector couples the feed cable with the second ground side of the ground plane. The center conductor of the feed cable is electrically isolated from the ground plane and electrically coupled with the antenna connector. The antenna connector electrically couples the center conductor with the antenna. The antenna connector is connected to the center conductor and the feed cable is substantially parallel to the ground plane from the antenna connector to the cable connector.

Connection for antennas operating above a ground plane

A system that is operable to adjust operation of a network device is provided. The system includes an identification module that is coupled with an antenna connector that couples the antenna with a network device. The identification module includes an identification characteristic that may be used to determine an antenna characteristic that defines operation of the antenna. The operation of the network device may be adjusted based on the antenna characteristic.
