A method and apparatus for manufacturing endless reinforced belts is disclosed. The method comprising the steps of laying up on a flat build table at least one sheet of curable material and at least one sheet of reinforcement material forming a carcass, curing a central portion of the carcass, and then splicing and curing the uncured ends of the carcass to form the endless lugged track. The manufacturing system has three cells: a building cell, a flat cure press cell, and a splice cure press cell. Each cell is operated in series.

The useful life of an abrasive material transport hose ( ) can be maximized if the hose is repositioned at the first signs of internal wear. This is accomplished by disposing at least two wear sensing elements ( ), each at a specified distance from the inwardmost surface of the inner tube ( ), and each monitoring a condition indicative of wear of the hose ( ) at its specified distance from the inwardmost surface of the inner tube. When the innermost wear sensing element ( ) implies wear, the hose can be repositioned to extend the useful life until the outermost wear sensing element ( ) indicates wear requiring replacement of the hose.

A steel wire or cable conveyor belt with improved penetration and rip resistance is made by plying up a series of rubberized longitudinal steel cables or wires to give a core, placing a ply of rubberized woven fabric such as polyaramide or nylon over the core, such as a tire breaker ply or plies over the core, then a ply of rubberized closely placed, essentially in contact wire, preferably of heavy tire ply cable, such as an earth mover ply, cut to cover the core in transverse direction to allow the steel wire or cable to be positioned perpendicular over the longitudinal steel wire or cable, apply a cover stock ply over the transversely positioned short wire or cable. The underside of the longitudinal steel wire or cable core has a rubberized woven fabric positioned there beneath and a rubberized pulley ply beneath the woven fabric ply. The plied up belt is cured with pressure and heat to adhere the plies together and cure the rubber. The usual belt cure pressure of 200 to 500 psi and temperatures of about 140.degree. C. to about 160.degree. C. for about 30 to about 90 minutes can be used, depending on the curative.

A filler neck for mounting between a fueling port and a fuel tank provides fuel entry into the tank and venting of fuel vapor from the tank while being serviced from a fuel dispensing nozzle having vapor recovery means. The filler neck comprises a reinforced rubber filler hose having a bore diameter sufficient for receiving the nozzle while also providing a vent path for fuel vapor from the tank through a vent hose mounted inside the filler hose bore. The internally vented filler neck is adapted for crash-proof fuel tank assemblies and eliminates multiple connections necessary on externally vented tanks. A mandrel assembly is also disclosed for making the internally vented filler neck.
