The present disclosure is generally directed to a multiple ply tissue product that includes a first ply and a second ply. The first ply includes a first outwardly facing layer having hardwood fibers, a second layer having softwood fibers, and a third layer having at least about 10 percent by weight post-consumer recycled fiber, wherein the second layer is positioned between the first layer and the third layer.

Multiple ply paper product with improved ply attachment and environmental sustainability

A system and method for transferring a continuously advancing paper web from a dryer to a reel section is provided. The system includes a first fabric defining a first moving conveyor. The first fabric may be a permeable fabric, which is positioned downstream from the dryer. A second fabric, which may also be permeable and defines a second moving conveyor, is also included. The first moving conveyor overlaps the second moving conveyor for a predetermined distance, and the first and second moving conveyors are configured to receive the paper web between the conveyors. A vacuum device is rotatably disposed against the first moving conveyor, and the dryer and the vacuum device are disposed relative to each other to form an open draw. The vacuum device is configured to produce a vacuum to attract the web to the first fabric for transferring the advancing web into the predetermined distance where the first and second conveyors overlap.

Method and apparatus for transporting a sheet from a dryer to a reel

A multi-layered paper web that has increased strength for minimizing slough and lint is provided. In one embodiment, the paper web contains an outer layer formed from unrefined hardwood fibers and an inner layer formed from refined hardwood, softwood, and machine broke fibers. During formation within a headbox, the outer and inner fibrous layers are allowed to partially blend. By partially blending the layers, the fibers within each layer can form bonds in the &minus;z direction to provide sufficient strength to minimize lint and slough.

A multi-ply tissue product is described in which the two outer plies are layered such that the inwardly-facing layer of each outer ply contains a chemical debonder to impart softness while confining lint and slough from that layer to the inside of the tissue product.

Soft low lint tissue

A multi-layered paper web that has increased strength for minimizing slough and lint is provided. Rolled creped paper products, such as kitchen towels, can be provided with high roll bulk and a high degree of roll firmness by steaming the dry, creped paper sheet immediately prior to embossing the sheet between matched steel embossing rolls. The steaming preconditions the sheet such that the resulting sheet embossments maintain their shape and structural strength, thereby imparting greater bulk and firmness to the wound roll of product. In addition, the sheet experiences less cross-machine strength reduction as a consequence of the embossing.

A method for can drying wet webs for tissue products to preserve web bulk includes, in one embodiment, restraining a partially dewatered wet web between a pair of sheet molding fabrics. The restrained wet web is processed over a plurality of can dryers to dry the wet web, for example from a consistency of at least about 40 percent to a consistency of at least about 70 percent. The sheet molding fabrics in this embodiment protect the wet web from direct contact with the can dryers and impart an impression in the web. A can drying assembly and tissue machine for accomplishing the method are also disclosed.
