System and method for branding a facility

A computer-assisted method of preparing video and audio content for playback at a plurality of facilities. The method includes transferring the content from a central network computer to at least one remote playback system located in each of the facilities. The method also includes generating, using the central network computer, at least one playlist for each of the facilities, the playlist for determining an order of playback of the content and transferring each of the playlists from the central network computer to the playback system in each of the facilities.

System and method for delivering audio and video content to remote facilities based upon input advertising content selections

A portable music device which integrates certain features of a personal music listening device with certain features of a personal audio recorder whereby a user can listen through headphones to a music selection containing both the instrumental score and/or integrated vocals. Utilizing the device, the user can sing through a microphone connected to the device while simultaneously listening to one or more parts of the music score/lyric tracks to create a music recording of the user's voice lyrics without recording the instrumental score and/or the integrated vocals. The portable music device may include or work with a system that includes features to procure, store and manage (both electronically and legally) copyrighted music.

Portable music device and systems

A system for simultaneously capturing data from multiple sources from individuals training on exercise equipment is provided. The system utilizes a wireless means of either transferring data to a computer server for permanent storage and interactive analysis or to prompt the delivery of programming content or data from a computer server to the exercise units or attachments affixed thereto. The system also includes an interactive means of incorporating third-party input regarding additional characteristics about each exercise unit, entertainment system or human user that when integrated with the base line equipment data becomes highly relevant and valuable. The present invention utilizes a programmable transceiver that can receive entertainment programming and data communications from a central computer server while simultaneously receiving data from multiple devices attached to or integrated within the exercise unit.

Data storage and communication network for use with exercise units

The exercise device includes a support frame upon which a first shaft is rotatably supported. A user interface member is connected to the first shaft such that when the user interface member is displaced by a user, the first shaft is caused to rotate. A second shaft is also rotatably supported on the support frame. A torque arm assembly having a plurality of torque arms is connected to the second shaft. Each of the plurality of torque arms is adapted to support a weight member thereon. A conversion mechanism connects the first and second shafts to control the relative rates of rotation of the first and second shafts such that the resistance force generated by the torque arm assembly remains positive over an entire range of motion of the user interface member.

Multiple torque arm exercise device

An exercise device includes: a support frame, a first shaft rotatably supported on the support frame, a user interface member connected to the first shaft which, when displaced by a user, causes the first shaft to rotate more than 90 degrees and a second shaft rotatably supported on the support frame. A linkage mechanism connects the first shaft and the second shaft, thereby controlling the relative rates of rotation of the first and second shafts. The exercise device also includes a torque arm assembly having an upper torque arm and a lower torque arm connected to the second shaft at different predetermined angular positions. Each torque arm includes at least one weight support member thereon. The relative positions of the connections within the linkage mechanism are coordinated with the relative angular positions of each torque arm to provide desired resistance curves for each of the torque arms. Preferably, the resistance generated by the linkage mechanism and torque arm assembly does not result in a negative resistance force at any point during the rotation of the first shaft.

Exercise device

The present invention provides an exercise device in which resistance curves can be selectively varied and controlled to achieve a desired positive resistance curve notwithstanding the degree of rotation of the exercise motion. Generally, the exercise device of the present invention comprises a support frame upon which a first shaft is rotatably supported. A user interface member (or exercise member) is connected to the first shaft such that when the user interface member is displaced by a user the first shaft is caused to rotate. A second shaft is also rotatably supported on the support frame. A torque arm assembly comprising of a plurality of torque arms is connected to the second shaft. Each of the plurality of torque arm is adapted to support a weight member thereon. A conversion mechanism connects the first and the second shafts to limit the degree of rotation of the second shaft in such a manner that the resistance generated by the torque arm assembly cannot result in a negative resistance force.

A variable resistance exercise device is provided which enables a user to select from an almost limitless set of resistance curves having various shapes and amplitudes. These results are achieved using a fixed baseline resistance and a variable resistance generated by a torque arm assembly. Preferably, the torque arm assembly either has a vertical diametric torque arm and two horizontal radial torque arms which are perpendicular to the vertical torque arm or two diametric torque arms which are perpendicular to each other. By varying the position of a weight member on each of these arms, as well as the ratio of the net horizontal torque and the vertical torque generated by the weight members, the baseline resistance force that the user experiences can be infinitely varied. Additionally, through the use of a gear assembly, the user can achieve a force variance during the exercise which is greater than the minimum force experienced during the exercise.

Exercise device having a variable resistance curve

A variable resistance exercise device is provided which enables a user to select from an almost limitless set of resistance curves having various shapes and amplitudes. These results are achieved using a baseline fixed resistance and a variable resistance generated by a torque arm assembly. Preferably, the torque arm assembly has a vertical diametric torque arm and two horizontal radial torque arms which are perpendicular to the vertical torque arm. By varying the position of a weight member on each of these arms, as well as the ratio of the net horizontal torque and the vertical torque generated by the weight members, the resistance curve that the user experiences can be infinitely varied. Additionally, through the use of a gear assembly, the user can achieve a force variance during the exercise which is greater than the minimum force experienced during the exercise.

An exercise apparatus in which the resistance force experienced by the exerciser may be varied is provided. The apparatus includes a support frame within which a weight support carriage having detachable weight members is supported for vertical movement. A shaft is rotatably mounted on the frame and an exercise bearing member which may be engaged by a user is secured to the shaft as well as a cable wheel having a peripheral cable guide track. A length of cable is secured at one end to the weight support carriage, reeved through cable guides and movably attached at its other end to the cable wheel. A supplemental cam member having a varying thickness is received within the guide track and is movable therein along guide members. The position of the supplemental cam member may be fixed at predetermined points along the guide track in order that the cable must ride thereon, thereby providing exercise resistance or force which varies with the thickness of the supplemental cam member. Alternatively, the supplemental cam member may be provided on the cable wheel of an apparatus wherein the exerciser directly engages a cable. Also disclosed are embodiments including variable moment arms as well as gearing to vary resistance patterns by the effect of their ratios.

Variable resistance exercise apparatus

A weight lifting exercise apparatus capable of multiple maximum and minimum segments of resistance force is provided. The apparatus disclosed includes a free-standing support frame within which a weight support carriage having detachable weight members is supported for vertical movement. A shaft is rotatably mounted on the frame and an exercise bearing member which may be engaged by a user is secured to the shaft as well as a cable wheel having a circular arc segment. A length of cable is secured at one end to the weight support carriage, reeved through cable guides and attached at its other end to the cable wheel. A fixed support disk is secured to the shaft and a first rotatable disk which supports a first torque arm is rotatably mounted on the shaft. The first torque arm supports a moveable weight and the first disk may be variably attached to the fixed disk. A second torque arm is also rotatably supported by the shaft, supports a second weight member and may be secured to the first disk. Because the initial positions of the first and second torque arms and weight members may be variably preselected, a myriad of resistance force patterns are available.
