The invention relates to a fluoropolymer coating composition that can be used, for example, in coating electrodes and/or separators in electrochemical devices. The fluoropolymer coating composition preferably contains multiple fluoropolymer phases. The coated electrodes and/or separators have both excellent wet adhesion, excellent dry adhesion, and low leachables. Each of the fluoropolymer phases contains polymers having at least 10 weight percent, of a common fluoromonomer, making the polymer phases compatible with each other, and allowing for the phases to be distributed fairly homogeneously on a macroscopic level throughout the composition and dried coating formed from the composition.

The invention relates to a separator for non-aqueous-type electrochemical devices that has been coated with a polymer binder composition having polymer particles of two different sizes, one fraction of the polymer particles with a weight average particle size of less than 1.5 micron, and the other fraction of the polymer particles with a weight average particle size of greater than 1.5 microns. The bi-modal polymer particles provide an uneven coating surface that creates voids between the separator and adjoining electrodes, allowing for expansion of the battery components during the charging and discharging cycle, with little or no increase in the size of the battery itself. The bi-modal polymer coating can be used in non-aqueous-type electrochemical devices, such as batteries and electric double layer capacitors.

A polyamide-grafted polyolefin composition in which the grafting rate of the composition is between 41% and 70% by weight. Also, a thermoplastic composition including a polyolefin backbone comprising a residue of at least one unsaturated monomer (X) and a plurality of polyamide grafts, in which: the polyamide grafts are attached to the polyolefin backbone by the residue of the unsaturated monomer (X) comprising a functional group capable of reacting by a condensation reaction with a polyamide having at least one amine end and/or at least one carboxylic acid end, the residue of the unsaturated monomer (X) is attached to the backbone by grafting or copolymerization, wherein the polyamide grafts represent from 41% to 70%, preferably from 45% to 70%, by mass of said polyamide-grafted polymer. Also, a thermoplastic film for encapsulating and/or protecting the back ('backsheet') of a photovoltaic module that includes said polyamide-grafted polyolefin composition.

The present invention relates to a poly(lactic acid) composition with improved impact resistance, comprising, by weight: 60% to 97% of poly(lactic acid) (PLA), and 3% to 40% of a mixture of compounds A and B in which A is a copolymer of ethylene and of an unsaturated monomer bearing at least one epoxide or carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid anhydride function, and optionally of alkyl (meth)acrylate, and B is a copolymer of ethylene and of alkyl (meth)acrylate, wherein said mixture having a wt % (A)/wt % (A+B) ratio of between 0.10 and 0.49. The present invention also relates to the manufacture of parts or objects using these compositions.

The invention relates to a composition based on an impact-resistant thermoplastic polyamide resin, comprising, as a blend&#x2014;from 60 to 98 wt % of polyamide resin (A) and&#x2014;from 2 to 40 wt % of a blend of at least one graft copolymer with polyamide blocks (B) composed of a polyolefin backbone and at least one polyamide graft in which the grafts are attached to the backbone by the residues of an unsaturated monomer (X) having a functional group capable of reacting with an amine-terminated polyamide, the residues of the unsaturated monomer (X) being attached to the backbone by grafting or copolymerization via its double bond, and of a non-reactive ethylenic polymer (C) that is miscible with (B) and has a density of below 0.960 g/cm.

Impact-resistant composition based on a polyamide resin and on a blend of at least one graft copolymer with polyamide blocks and a low-density ethylene polymer

The present invention relates to a composite having improved impact resistance. According to the invention, this composite is obtained from a composition comprising the following polymers: polylactic acid (PLA) which forms the matrix; at least one polyamide forming a dispersed phase within the PLA matrix; at least one functionalized polyolefin (A) comprising alpha-olefin units and epoxy, carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid anhydride units; and, optionally, at least one unfunctionnalized polyolefin (B).

The subject of the invention is a process for producing polyamide, copolyamide, polyolefin, copolyester amide or fluorocarbon resin powder particles on to the surface of which has been grafted at least one functionalized grafting monomer, characterized in that it comprises: a) a step of blending the polyamide or copolyamide powder particles with the functionalized grafting monomer; followed by b) a step of irradiating the powder impregnated with functionalized grafting monomer resulting from a) with photons (&#x3b3;-radiation) or electrons (&#x3b2;-radiation), with a dose ranging from 0.5 to 15 Mrad.
