The invention relates to various aspects in the production of extrusion products. The properties of extruded articles are dependent significantly, in addition to their formulation, also on the setting variables and in particular on the thus resulting process variables. The setting variables and in particular the process variables thus represent a state of the extrusion process characterized as 'fingerprint'. The thus claimed invention takes into account these facts and supports the operator of a production plant to detect earlier changes in quality and to systematically counteract a deterioration in the quality.

A plastic film of a thermoplastic synthetic resin is made in a film-making system by extrusion from a die of an extruder. First the plastic is melted and extruded from the die as a tube or web that is, typically after cooling and stretching, formed into a package. At least one reference parameter is provided, and, during continuous operation of the system, two input parameters different from the reference parameter are measured by respective measuring devices An output is determined from these reference parameters and is compared with the reference parameter.

Method and system for making a plastic film

A system for making a nonwoven nonwoven spun-bond or melt-blown fabric has a spinneret for spinning fibers or filaments, a cooler downstream of the spinneret for cooling the spun fibers or filaments, a stretcher downstream of the cooler for stretching the cooled fibers or filaments, and a conveyor downstream of the stretcher. The stretched and cooled fibers or filaments are deposited as a nonwoven web on the conveyor. Sensors measure input parameters at the spinneret, at the cooler, at the stretcher, and/or at at least one diffuser or at the conveyor. An evaluating unit for determining an output parameter from the measured input parameter with respect to a predetermined reference parameter.

A plastic-extrusion system comprises a plurality of system components including an extruder and a collection device for collecting the extruded plastic material. The plastic-extrusion system has an operator station designed for taking in and outputting data of the plastic-extrusion system. The operator station further has a mobile terminal including a screen of a graphical user interface as well as a camera. The plastic-extrusion system is associated with at least one information source, and preferably a plurality of information sources. The operator station is configured so as to provide access to the at least one information source, and preferably to the plurality of information sources.

Excretion by a diaper wearer in a diaper is predicted by providing in or on the diaper on the wearer an excretion detector capable of detecting excretion by the diaper wearer and a motion sensor capable of detecting movements of the diaper wearer. The sensor continuously detects and at least temporarily records movements of the diaper wearer, and these detected movements are analyzed to determine movement patterns. Then, on detection of excretion by the detector, a movement pattern immediately preceding the detection of excretion is stored or flagged as a critical movement pattern. Thereafter each time movements matching the critical movement pattern are detected, a signal is sent to a user.

Method and apparatus for predicting excretion by a diaper wearer

An apparatus for applying a treatment liquid to a web moving in a predetermined web-travel direction has an applicator element having a surface extending transverse to the direction and positioned to contact the moving web. The liquid is applied to the surface such that the liquid is transferred to the moving web where the moving web contacts the surface. A shield directly engages a portion of the surface between the web and the surface so that where the shield extends between the moving web and the surface there is generally no transfer of the liquid from the surface to the moving web. Formations on the shield conduct the liquid away from edges of the shield.

Apparatus for applying a liquid to a passing web

An apparatus for applying a liquid to a moving web has an applicator element having a surface extending transverse to the web-travel direction and positioned to contact the moving web. Liquid applied to the surface is transferred to the moving web where the moving web contacts the surface. A support spaced in the web-travel direction from the applicator element has a plurality of guides extending transverse to the web-travel direction, with at least some of the guides overlapping others of the guides. Respective shields slidable in the guides transverse to the direction extend between the web and the surface so that where the shields extend between the moving web and the surface there is generally no transfer of the liquid from the surface to the moving web. Respective adjusters connected to the shields shift same in the respective guides between positions spaced from one another to positions at least partially overlapping one another.

An apparatus for applying finishing agents onto a nonwoven web, wherein there is provided a device for pre-bonding of the nonwoven web. There is provided at least one guide surface, over which the pre-bonded nonwoven web is guided. Outlet openings for the finishing agent are provided in the guide surface, so that finishing agent can be applied onto the nonwoven web being guided over the guide surface.
