A method for cooling a roller device, which has a right bearing housing, a left bearing housing, and a roller, which is rotatably supported by journals in the bearing housings, especially of strand guide rolls, roller table rollers, pinch rolls, support rolls, or driving rolls in continuous casting plants, in which a cooling medium cools the bearings mounted in the bearing housings and passes through an axial bore in the roller. The cooling medium enters the bearing housing of the roller device on one side, passes around the bearing mounted in this bearing housing, then flows through the axial bore in the roller to the other side, passes around the bearing mounted in the other bearing housing, and is then discharged from the roller device.

Cooling of rolls in continuous casting plants

A roller device, which includes a right bearing housing, a left bearing housing and a roller, which is rotatably supported by journals in the bearing housings in continuous casting plants. A cooling medium is passed through an axial bore in the roller, and bores, which form a closed cavity, are arranged around the bearings mounted in each of the bearing housings. A cooling medium inlet is provided in a first of the bearing housings, and a discharge bore for the cooling medium, which is arranged on the end face of a second of the bearing housings, is located next to the bearing cover so that the cooling medium flows into the inlet in the first bearing housing, through the axial bore in the roller and out the discharge bore in the second bearing housing.

The invention relates to a method for collecting and evacuating run-off water from the inner arc of the strand guide () of a beam blank casting machine, according to which the cast strand () is solidified and the required dissipation of heat is achieved, among other things, by sprayed water, whereby run-off water can also collect on the inner arc of the strand (). The run-off water is collected using a suction head (). The run-off water that is collected in the suction head is fluidized using fluidizers or momentum inhibitors. The fluidized water is sucked off and the water-air mixture is split into water and air in a separation device. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method, comprising at least one suction device that is arranged or can be driven along the strand guide (), said suction device having an attachable suction head () and being equipped with fluidizers. The suction device () is driven along the beam blank preliminary section () by means of manipulators ().

Method and device for evacuating drainage water in the inner arc of beam blank casting machines

A method and strand guide for supporting, guiding and cooling casting strands () made of steel, especially preliminary sections () for girders, which are cooled by injected water () and are drawn, serve to prevent cracks, especially surface cracks, from appearing in the microstructure by adapting the cooling conditions of the surface of the strand in the region of the secondary cooling, and serve to prevent undercooling of the strand shell, wherein in order to avoid an undesirable solidification structure on the upper flange edges or in other cross-sectional areas, the cooling and support of the beam blank format are so adapted to the solidification range that cooling and support are provided exclusively where a crater is formed. To this end, the casting strand () is cooled, by guiding the temperature in a specific manner in upper supporting segments (), by means of spray-water jets the width of which at least matches the length of the supporting rollers on longitudinal and transversal sides () of the cross section () of the casting strand, and is decreasingly supported in an analogous manner with respect to the length of the casting path and the cooling state in core areas () of the cross section () of the casting strand on the transversal sides () of said casting strand cross-section () so that cooling occurs exclusively by means of water jets () which are oriented towards said core areas ().

Method and strand guide for supporting, guiding and cooling casting strands made of steel, especially preliminary sections for girders

An apparatus for the continuous casting of metals, especially of steel, is equipped with a base frame () carrying a continuous casting mold () and an oscillating device () disposed on the base frame () and with a foot roller frame () disposed on the foot end () of the continuous casting mold (). In order to obtain better protection for the mold region and components disposed downstream thereof, it is proposed that the continuous casting mold () together with an oscillation frame () and an oscillating drive () engaging the oscillating frame () be arranged in an upwardly and laterally closed housing () and that the foot roller frame () fastened on the continuous casting mold () extends through a laterally shielding lower housing ().

Device for continuously casting metals, especially steel

A method for casting and rolling preliminary sections, especially H-sections, and a device for the support, guidance and deformation of a metal strand, especially a steel cast strand (), in a continuous casting installation for preliminary sections with soft reduction (), wherein roll carriers () are arranged below the continuous casting mold opposite each other on each side of the cast strand (), the rolls of said carriers being in transport and/or deformation connection with said cast strand, and wherein to avoid segregation and porosity, the preliminary section is precast in the continuous casting mould with a bulge () on the flanges () on the surface () of the web of said preliminary section, and the bulges () of the flange () and the web of the preliminary section () are rolled flat in the soft reduction area () in such a way that the outer surfaces of the flange () and the web surfaces of the preliminary section () are largely plane.

Method for casting and immediate rolling, and device for the support, guidance and deformation of a metal strand, especially in steel strand

A device for the continuous casting of metals, especially steel material, to elongated products in a multistrand casting apparatus with a plurality of continuous casting molds which are oscillatingly driven in an oscillating frame () by means of leaf springs () whereby the leaf springs () extend transversely to the casting direction () and serve for guide and weight compensation. The smallest possible strand spacing 'A' is provided for that on a longitudinal foundation frame () to housings () in the form of compact flat cassettes () are secured one behind the other in the strand travel direction. In the housings upper and lower leaf spring pairs () run transversely to the cast strands () and the oscillating strands () engage the leaf spring pairs (), whereby a front oscillating drive () works synchronously with the rear oscillating drive ().

Device for the continuous casting of metals, in particular steel material, to form elongated products in a multiple casting line

The secondary cooling and the strand support are matched to the cooling state of a continuously cast strand cross section. The secondary cooling and support are reduced in dependence upon the solidification profile of the cast strand along the distance traveled.

Method and device for continuous casting and subsequent forming of a steel billet, especially a billet in the form of an ingot or a preliminary section

The invention relates to a device for the continuous casting of metals, especially steel, by means of a continuous casting mold () which is mounted in an oscillating frame (). Said oscillating frame can be driven so that it oscillates in the direction of casting (), the course of the oscillation movement and/or the frequency being adjustable. The oscillating frame () is mounted with spring assemblies () arranged symmetrically on both sides of the strand, for guiding and weight compensation. The device is used on a continuous casting mold () with a shaped casting cross-section (), which is mounted in the oscillating frame (). The leaf-spring-mounted oscillating frame () can be operated with the continuous casting mold () in a resonance oscillation method in order to give the preliminary section a better surface.

A dummy bar for a continuous metal casting plant, particularly for a continuous casting plant for preliminary steel sections, includes a one-piece head piece having dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of the mold cross-section and two rows of segments connected to the head piece. The two rows of segments extend parallel to each other in the longitudinal direction of the dummy bar and are spaced apart from each other by the width of the dummy bar. Flexible steel bands are mounted on each row of segments for connecting the segments.
