A pair of ratchets are coupled to a camstack with each rachet being driven by a separate drive pawl. A no back clutch, that is associated with the camstack to prevent its reversal during its advancement, comprises an annular member having a multiplicity of individual pawls engaging a multi-tooth ratchet coupled to the camstack. A spring biased lever and a spring biased actuator coupled to the lever engages one of the drive pawls so that the drive pawl can be disengaged from its ratchet for at least a portion of a program cycle.

Drive and clutch for a timing mechanism

A first shaft of two concentric rotatable shafts is axially displaceable with respect to the other. Switch opening and closing means is responsive to the axial displacement of the first shaft, the axial displacement being responsive to the rotational output of the second shaft. A cam means is carried by the second shaft.

Timing mechanism

Energy is slowly stored in at least two spring members mounted juxtaposition one another, the stored energy being released substantially instantaneously and individually, a single member engaging a striker first, the striker then engaging an alarm device such as a bell, subsequent members striking prior members to move the striker and again engage the alarm device.

Sound making system

A driver member rotates at a constant speed through and past 360.degree. and a driven member responsive to the rotation of the driver member rotates at an increasing or decreasing speed during a major portion of the 360.degree. rotation, there being a means maintaining the driver and driven members in engagement during and past 360.degree. rotation.
