A vehicle restraint assembly,having a selectively inflatable and expandable assembly,and a member,which is selectively and removably coupled to a vent member,and which overlays the assembly,The member,cooperates with the vent member,to direct and transport air within the vehicle passenger compartment,The selectively expanded assembly,causes member,to become selectively dislodged from member,thereby allowing assembly,to enter the vehicle passenger compartment,and to desirably protect the vehicle occupants.

Restraint assembly

An airbag deactivation system for the airbags mounted in a motor vehicle. The system provides a switch and circuitry to allow for selective deactivation of driver and/or passenger airbags in a motor vehicle via a conventional ignition key inserted into a key cylinder. The switch includes interchangeable key cylinders to allow for limited selective deactivation and a key stop to limit the amount of insertion of the ignition key into the key cylinder. LED's emit light from the deactivation module when indicating a deactivation condition, which is viewable by both a driver and a front seat passenger. Alternatively, LED's are mounted in a remote indicator assembly, separate from the deactivation module, to provide improved visual indication to the driver and front seat passenger of the state of airbag deactivation.

An apparatus for assuring the proper seating of a seat belt mounting bolt 30 against a mounting tab 36 is provided that includes a cage member 56 receiving a drive tool 52 to abuttingly engage the tab 36 against a vehicle body panel 14 with the cage member 56 while drivingly engaging the bolt 30. Electrical contacts 66, 68 on the drive tool 52 engage the cage member 56 to provide an electrical signal indicating the bolt 30 is seated with respect to the tab 36.
