The apparatus then transmits symbols of the EHT-STF of the dRU. The CSD index assignment is based on a dRU hierarchical structure with one or more CSD indexes shared among multiple dRUs of different sizes but not among multiple dRUs of a same size.

Accordingly, embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for low power transmissions that provide improved wireless coverage for 6 GHz LPI transmissions using novel tone mapping techniques. Resource units (RUs) tones are distributed over larger bandwidths to achieve higher transmission power while operating within the PSD requirements of LPI. The tone distribution can include global tone mapping of smaller RUs distributed onto larger bandwidths, or group-based tone distribution methods, for example.

Methods and devices for tone distribution for low power transmissions in a wireless network

Embodiments of the present invention provide transmission schemes and methods that can assign multiple resource units (RUs) to a single wireless station using Aggregate Media Access Control Protocol Data Unit (A-MPDUs) in a flexible transmission scheme for the multi-RUs transmission. Embodiments of the present invention can send and receive data sing multiple resource units allocated to a single wireless STA. A 20 MHz segment and a 40 MHz segment on either side of a punctured portion of an 80 MHz segment can be treated as separate resource units (RUs), and the RUs can be assigned to the same wireless user/device. Each punctured 80 MHz segment can be interleaved separately. Different processes for encoding data and transmission schemes for transmitting the data are described herein according to embodiments of the present invention. Different transmission schemes can be used based on the size and number of the RUs allocated to an STA.

An apparatus distributes a plurality of subcarriers of a RU over a bandwidth to generate a distributed-tone RU (dRU) or a distributed-tone multi-RU (dMRU). The apparatus then communicates with a communication entity using the dRU or the dMRU. In distributing the plurality of subcarriers of the RU to generate the dRU or the dMRU, the apparatus distributes the plurality of subcarriers of the RU with a predefined span over each 20 MHz frequency segment or subblock in the bandwidth and with a gap of at least a minimum size around a center direct-current (DC) tone in a distribution pattern of the plurality of subcarriers to result in reduction in a PAPR in communicating with the communication entity.

The communication entity then transmits the dRU or dMRU associated with the UL TB PPDU with transmission power control such that symbols associated with the EHT-STF are transmitted with a first power and symbols associated with the EHT-LTF and the payload are transmitted with a second power.

Various schemes pertaining to designs of a distributed-tone resource unit (dRU) on a frequency subblock of a wide-bandwidth physical-layer protocol data unit (PPDU) in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity generates a PPDU with subcarriers of a resource unit (RU) distributed on a frequency subblock of a plurality of frequency subblocks of a wide bandwidth. The communication entity then transmits the PPDU over the wide bandwidth. Each of the plurality of frequency subblocks includes a 20 MHz, 40 MHz or 80 MHz frequency subblock. The wide bandwidth includes an 80 MHz, 160 MHz or 320 MHz bandwidth. The subcarriers of the RU are distributed on the frequency block by applying a constant shift to a dRU on a 20 MHz, 40 MHz or 80 MHz bandwidth.

Various schemes pertaining to subcarrier indices for distributed-tone resource units (RUs) in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity distributes frequency tones of a RU over a distribution bandwidth as a distributed-tone RU (dRU). The communication entity also generates generating a plurality of subcarrier indices for the distributed-tone RU such that a distribution of the distributed-tone RU is symmetric or asymmetric to a direct-current (DC) tone along an axis of subcarrier indices. The communication entity then communicates wirelessly using the distributed-tone RU in a 6 GHz LPI system.
