A booklet maker having a first crease device forming a folded edge on a set of sheets. A second crease device is disposed downstream along a booklet processing path from the first crease device. The second crease device includes an edge engaging mechanism translatable in a direction transverse to the path of booklet travel. The edge engaging mechanism is compressively engagable with the folded edge of a booklet for forming a crease in the booklet.

A method of processing print jobs that improves the ability of users to identify their print lobs at the local user interface of an image formation device is provided. The method includes receiving image data for a print job at a computer and converting the image data to page description language code at the computer. The page description language code for the image data includes a job name string having an application name portion and a filename portion. The method further includes comparing the application name portion of the job name string to a list of application names in a database; removing the application name portion from the job name string where the application name portion is found in the database; and then sending the page description language code for the image data to an image formation device.

Method and system for identifying print jobs associated with an image formation device

In operating a multifunction office apparatus, the apparatus including a user interface, an input scanner, and at least one of a printer, finisher, disc recorder, facsimile transmitter, network transmitter, or electronic mail transmitter, images from a document are recorded as image data in a memory. A method of handling faxes by a fax machine is provided. The method includes generating user-configured rules, each user-configured rule including a corresponding fax job condition and an associated fax machine action to be performed if the corresponding fax job condition is met. The method also includes generating a user-configured policy for handling faxes in a fax job including the user selecting the user-configured rules to be applied when the user-configured policy is applied and the user ranking the user-configured rules from a highest rank to a lowest rank. The method also includes a fax machine receiving a fax job and applying the user-configured policy to the fax job by applying the user-configured rules in an order of application from the highest ranked rule to the lowest ranked rule.

The introduction of an integrated data glyph, watermark, and thumb print system enables copy protection via a multi-functional device. The device, working with a secure remote server, produces a unique data glyph for each document that the user wishes to protect. Different copy protection strengths are possible and the reproduction of the document is fully controllable.

A method selectively acquiring one or more images from a hardcopy document is provided. The method includes demarking boundaries on one or more hardcopy pages using a writing instrument to differentiate a selected image portion from a non-selected image portion, scanning the one or more demarked hardcopy pages with an image acquisition device, acquiring one or more images from the hardcopy pages, and processing the acquired one or more images from the selected image portion to differentiate them from the non-selected image portion.
