An emulator for hosting desktop widgets. The emulator mimics the functions of a desktop widget engine. The emulator serves as a user interface component that may be added via a rapid application development tool, such as Oracle International Corporation's Application Development Framework. The rapid application development tool may be used to install the emulator, for example, in a region of a user interaction environment or an application created by the rapid application development tool. If desired, multiple options may be provided in terms of regions to provide the emulator. In addition, one or more selection devices, such as a drop down menu, may be provided to select particular desktop widgets for use and display. Tabbed pages may be provided on a display for the emulator for organizing both personal and enterprise desktop widgets. Security settings control access to widgets, and an option to allow or restrict access to widget display options in the emulator.

Desktop widget engine emulator component for a rapid application development tool

A widget host container serves as a component that may be added via a rapid application development tool, such as Oracle International Corporation's Application Development Framework. The rapid application development tool may be used to install the widget host container, for example, in a region of a user interaction environment, such as an application or a suite of user interactive applications, created by the rapid application development tool. If desired, one or more selection devices, such as a drop down menu, may be provided to select particular widgets for use and display. Features may be provided for organizing both personal and enterprise widgets. Security settings control access to web widgets, and an option to allow or restrict access to web widget display options in the container.

Widget host container component for a rapid application development tool

A portal web site development system for generating portal web sites. A portal web site development system includes a router, a login server, a database, and a portal web server. Preference data is collected from a user regarding the appearance and operation of a portal web site. Based upon the preference data, the portal web site development system generates a new portal web site accessible to an identified set of users. The portal web site is generated entirely within the database. The user may specify the appearance and operation of the portal web site prior to generation, and may customize the portal web site anytime thereafter.

Method and system for portal web site generation

The several embodiments include a hypodermic needle with a hollow member positioned over a portion of the needle, thus covering that portion of the needle. Prior to and during use, the hollow member is held away from the piercing end of the needle to allow it to be used in the normal manner. After the needle has become contaminated, a simple action by the user places the hollow member in a position covering the piercing end of the needle, and the hollow member is supported in this position against rearward pressure. The hollow member is similarly kept from sliding off the end of the needle.

In the several embodiments, a tire chain, and a method of installing a tire chain in which a line extends from each of the opposite ends of the portion of the tire chain that encircles the inside of a tire. In a preferred embodiment, the two lines cross the treaded portion of the tire diagonally, so that one line crosses the other, and are connected to the portion of the tire chains that encircle the outside of the tire. Preferably, the two lines are connected to each other at the point where they cross, which is about at the center of the treaded surface of the tire.

Easy installing tire chains

Method for securing a tire chain to a tire

A fire fighting device consisting of a jet engine, or alternatively another wind-producing mechanism, with a conduit mounted thereon, the conduit having an opening so that when water or another fire retardant is directed into the conduit, the water or other fire retardant will exit the opening and enter the jet exhaust when the jet engine is in operation. The jet exhaust will carry the water or other fire retardant for a long distance, thus enabling fire fighters to propel the water or other fire retardant to distant parts of a wildfire by aiming the jet exhaust above the fire. Preferably, the jet engine is mounted in a manner allowing rotation on horizontal and vertical axes to allow it to be aimed.
