Disclosed are polymer vials () and injection stretch blow molding methods for making the same. A polymer vial has a base () having a base surface area and a sidewall () extending up from the base. The base and sidewall define an interior () configured to house product, the sidewall narrowing at an upper section of the vial to form a neck leading to an opening that provides access to the interior. The vial is optionally round and symmetrical about a central axis, a lower portion of the sidewall including a first surface that is outwardly curved along a first radius having an imaginary center positioned within the vial. The base is positioned below the first surface and is substantially flat such that at least 80% of the base surface area has a standing base surface occupying a single plane.

Methods and systems providing guidance for operation of a biopsy needle based on ultrasonic imaging. Ultrasonic waves are emitted and detected by a ultrasonic transducer to generate image data. A biopsy needle is identified within the generated image data, and the biopsy needle may be in a pre-fire configuration. Based on the identification of the biopsy needle, the methods and systems may determine a predicted location of the biopsy needle based at least in part on biopsy needle properties. The predicted location of the biopsy needle may be the predicated location of the biopsy needle in its post-fire configuration. At least one indicator may be displayed indicating the determined predicted location.

Biopsy needle visualization

A vessel including a thermoplastic wall enclosing a lumen is disclosed. The wall supports an SiOcomposite barrier coating or layer, for which x is from 1.8 to 2.4, between the wall and the lumen. High Resolution X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) shows the presence of an interface between the composite barrier coating or layer and the wall or substrate. In one aspect, the interface has at least 1 mol. % O—Si—C covalent bonding, as a proportion of the O—Si—C covalent bonding plus SiObonding. In another aspect, the interface has an Si 2p chemical shift to lower binding energy (eV), compared to the binding energy of SiObonding. The result is a tightly adherent composite barrier coating or layer having a high degree of adhesion to the substrate under practical use conditions. Methods of applying the composite barrier coating or layer are also disclosed.

SiObarrier for pharmaceutical package and coating process

A tissue holder assembly for receiving and imaging severed tissue samples from a biopsy device includes a base and a cover removably attached to the base to define an interior, the base having one or more vacuum lumens in communication with the interior, the assembly further including a tissue tray removably and rotatably mounted in the interior, wherein a bottom of the tissue tray comprises a filter material that allows fluid to pass through. The cover has a tissue sample entry port formed therein and configured direct severed tissue samples and fluid aspirated therethrough into a respective tissue storage compartment of the tissue tray positioned under the tissue sample entry port, wherein the base includes a raised surface underlying at least a portion of the tissue tray circumferentially spaced apart from the tissue sample entry port when the cover is attached to the base.

Devices and methods for reducing fluid in the imaging field of a tissue handling apparatus for improving biopsy system imaging quality

A biopsy system driver includes a motor having a rotatable output shaft, a support structure, a drive shaft, an elongate lead screw and a biopsy instrument drive member. The drive shaft is rotatably coupled to the support structure and includes or is otherwise operatively connected to the motor output shaft such that activation of the motor rotates the drive shaft. The elongate lead screw is coupled to the drive shaft such that rotation of the drive shaft rotates the lead screw about an axis of the lead screw. The lead screw is axially translatable relative to the drive shaft and to the support structure. The biopsy instrument drive member is threadably coupled to the lead screw such that rotation of the lead screw causes axial translation of one of the lead screw and biopsy instrument drive member relative to the other one and to the support structure.

Biopsy device

A method for providing a passivation layer or pH protective coating on a substrate surface by PECVD is provided, the method comprising generating a plasma from a gaseous reactant comprising polymerizing gases. The lubricity, passivation, pH protective, hydrophobicity, and/or barrier properties of the passivation layer or pH protective coating are set by setting the ratio of the Oto the organosilicon precursor in the precursor feed, and/or by setting the electric power used for generating the plasma. In particular, a passivation layer or pH protective coating made by the method is provided. Pharmaceutical packages coated by the method and the use of such packages protecting composition contained in the vessel against mechanical and/or chemical effects of the surface of the package without a passivation layer or pH protective coating material are also provided.

A biopsy device includes an instrument set and an instrument drive unit removably coupled to the instrument set. The instrument set includes an instrument set housing; an elongate outer cannula having a tissue receiving aperture in a side wall thereof; an elongate inner cannula disposed within an outer cannula lumen; an aspiration vent fluidly coupling the outer cannula lumen to atmosphere; and an aspirate valve in the aspiration vent, and configured such that the outer cannula lumen is vented to atmosphere only when the aspirate valve is open. The instrument drive unit includes a drive unit support structure removably coupled to the instrument set housing; a motorized inner cannula driver configured to axially oscillate the inner cannula relative to the outer cannula to sever tissue extending through the tissue receiving opening; and an actuating member configured to selectively mechanically prevent the aspirate valve from closing.

A syringe or other vessel having a substrate surface coated by PECVD is provided. The PECVD coating is made by generating plasma from a gaseous reactant comprising an organosilicon precursor and optionally O. The lubricity, hydrophobicity and/or barrier properties of the coating are set by setting the ratio of the Oto the organosilicon precursor in the gaseous reactant, and/or by setting the electric power used for generating the plasma. In particular, a lubricity coating made by said method is provided. Vessels coated by said method and the use of such vessels protecting a compound or composition contained or received in said coated vessel against mechanical and/or chemical effects of the surface of the uncoated vessel material are also provided.

Syringe with PECVD lubrication

A vessel has a lumen defined at least in part by a wall. The wall has an interior surface facing the lumen, an outer surface, and a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) coating set supported by the wall. The PECVD coating set comprises a water barrier coating or layer having a water contact angle from 80 to 180 degrees, applied using a precursor comprising at least one of a saturated or unsaturated fluorocarbon precursor having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. Optionally, the coating set includes an SiOx gas barrier coating or layer from 2 to 1000 nm thick, in which x is from 1.5 to 2.9 as measured by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and optionally other related coatings.

Vessels, containers, and surfaces coated with water barrier coatings

A package including a vessel wherein at least a portion of the vessel wall is made of a double wall material is disclosed. The double wall material comprises an interior polymer layer enclosed by an exterior polymer layer and one of the polymer layers is a layer made of cyclic olefin polymer (COP) resin. The package comprising the double wall, a CVD coating set on the wall, and a medicament comprising at least one protein, peptide, and/or DNA sequence is disclosed. Methods for processing a vessel, for example to provide lubricity or hydrophobicity, are also disclosed. The interior surface of the seated vessel can be processed via the vessel port by PECVD. Vessel barrier, lubricity and hydrophobic coatings and coated vessels, for example syringes and medical sample collection tubes are disclosed.

Cyclic olefin polymer vessels and vessel coating methods

A biopsy system includes a motorized driver having a drive member operatively coupled with a needle interface of a biopsy needle assembly that is removably installed on the motorized driver, wherein the motorized driver actuates the drive member to thereby actuate the biopsy needle assembly via the needle interface. A system controller that controls operation of the motorized driver is configured to perform a homing process including determining a system test failure or a needle removal condition in which a biopsy needle assembly installed on the motorized driver has been or should be removed from the motorized driver. Upon determining a system test failure or needle removal condition, the controller positions the drive member in a drive member home position for receiving a new biopsy needle assembly to be installed on the motorized driver.
