A system and method for processing solid waste disposal includes a hydrolyzer () and an injection assembly () for transferring waste to the hydrolyzer (). The injection assembly () includes a sleeve (), in which waste is compressed with a ram (), and a movable gate (), which opens to allow the compressed waste () to exit the sleeve () and enter the hydrolyzer (). Apparatus and method for transforming solid waste into useful products

A material handling exit section in the nature of a material extruder and mold combination for shaping the material exiting a hydrolyzer, comprising an extrusion chamber and a plunger assembly attached to the extrusion chamber and further including a working cylinder having a cylinder shaft and a ram operably connected to the shaft enabling the ram to move the material within the extrusion chamber upon actuation of the cylinder and the extension of the shaft therefrom.

Apparatus for and method of transforming useful material into molded or extruded articles

A system for processing waste on a continuous basis comprises an infeed assembly, a vessel held at a non-ambient pressure and/or temperature, and an outfeed assembly. The infeed assembly includes: a sleeve where waste is delivered; a gate construction that moves between an open and a closed position; and a ram that moves within the sleeve to compress waste when the gate construction is in the closed position and to push the compressed waste into the vessel, where it is metamorphically processed, when the gate construction is in the open position. The processed material moves from the vessel to the outfeed assembly, which includes a compaction chamber, a ram that moves within the compaction chamber, and a cutter assembly. Waste is compacted in the compaction chamber by the ram, cut by the cutter assembly, and delivered as a compacted block to an environment having an ambient pressure and/or temperature.

System and method for processing waste on a continuous basis

An apparatus, system, and batch or continuous flow method of thermodynamically reducing and converting household garbage into useful by-products capable of being recycled and reused or otherwise transformed into useful articles. The method of transforming household garbage into useful material comprises the steps of: providing a quantity of household garbage having a first volume and a liquid content; reducing the garbage having a first volume to an aggregate shard having a second volume smaller then the first volume; optionally expelling liquid from the aggregate shard; and heating the aggregate shard under pressure greater than ambient pressure to create an aggregate shard pulp. An embodiment of the system includes: a grinder for reducing the volume of the household garbage to an aggregate shard; an optional expeller for extracting liquids from the aggregate shard; and a hydrolizer which may be a batch or a continuous flow hydrolizer for decomposing the remaining aggregate shard after the liquid has been removed and transforming it into an aggregate shard pulp.

Process of transforming household garbage into useful material

A material volume reduction apparatus having a frame, a motor supported by the frame, a drum supported by the frame and having an interior and an exterior, a drive shaft operably connected to the motor, a comminuting wheel assembly including a disk like body portion having an axis; and a geared axle assembly operably interpositioned between and connected to the drive shaft and the comminuting wheel assembly to operably support the comminuting wheel assembly within the interior of the drum and to transmit the rotational torque of the motor imparted to the drive shaft and transfer it to the comminuter wheel assembly enabling the comminuter wheel to rotate within the interior of the drum. The geared axle assembly is preferably that of a motorized vehicle of the type found in an over-the-road type diesel truck. The drum may include a substantially cylindrical wall with an open first end and an open second end; and a closure member to at least partially close the second end of the drum. The closure member may further comprise a grate, or a plurality of grate segments, mounted adjacent the second end of the drum. A hub supported by a distal end of an axle portion wherein the hub is configured to enable the comminuter wheel to be attached to it. At least one toothed bracket is secured to the peripheral edge of the wheel. The teeth are preferably formed of a unitary body construction wherein the unitary body is rigidly secured to the bracket.

Direct drive material volume reduction apparatus

A motor driven grinding apparatus, and a system incorporating the inventive grinder, for reducing the size of waste material. The apparatus includes a housing having an interior, an exterior, an inlet for introducing material into the interior, and an exit for expelling material from the interior. The housing also includes a front wall, a back wall, a pair of spaced apart side walls, and a bottom grate. The apparatus also includes a substantially cylindrical, balanced, drum having a shaft, and a plurality of cutting blocks rotatably mounted thereto. The drum is rotated by a drive motor engageable with the shaft. An airfoil is attached to the front wall for establishing a static air curtain within the interior of the housing enabling air to be drawn into the housing through the inlet and expelled from the exit when the drum rotates. The drum and cutting block configuration are particularly useful for grinding, and shearing, cellulose, plastics, glass, and other solid waste materials. The power ratings of the drive motors preferably range from 10 to 200 horsepower. The system includes the inventive apparatus, a series of conveyors, a shredder and at least one magnetic device to remove metallic material from the shredded material.

Recycling and solid material conversion apparatus

An apparatus for removing a flexible cover from a bale of material, such as compressed peat moss, including a pusher member adapted to move the bale lengthwise against a plurality of knives adapted to cut across the front end of the cover as well as along the sides to slit the cover and separate it from the material. The pusher member is provided with spike devices for retaining the separated cover as the material is discharged from a discharge station, to remove the split separated cover to a cover removal station. In a preferred form of the invention, a stripper mechanism is included for stripping the split cover from the pusher member.
